The Hunger Games rated a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes! And the best sign: 98% of people who voted want to see the film.
Here’s how some of the first films in other major book series adaptations were reviewed:
It’s really hard to adapt a book well… some series adaptations are received well:
And sometimes they are not. I’m still upset that there’s not going to be a full trilogy for the His Dark Materials trilogy:
Congrats to The Hunger Games for its critical success! Bodes well for the movie, and the series overall.
Are you going to check out The Hunger Games when it comes on Friday?

I desperately want to go see the movie, but I have a four month old and my husband isn’t too keen on watching him while I skip off to fangirl over Peeta. The books were amazing, so I’m excited to see how they translated to the big screen.

I am actually excited to see the movie…anyone who knows me knows that I do not get excited about things like movies and/or books, so this is really abnormal behavior for me. I am glad the critics liked it, but the real test is when it opens to the public, that’ll be the real test.

Seems like the percentage doesn’t really tell you anything. For example, the Chronicles of Narnia did better than Twilight, but I think we can agree that Twilight has been much more of a hit, no matter the sheer volume of negative reception. If Narnia had been as successful, we would have seen a more prompt continuous stream of all seven of the books.

Am I the only person on the planet who thought the book was really stupid?

I read the book and felt that watching the movie was worth it. The action sequences were well executed and the casting was a superb fit. It was difficult compromising the Panam and District worlds by my imagination but Mr.Ross did a masterful job in his first attempt at such a huge undertaking.
