Getting ready in the morning is pretty easy when all of your essentials are within reach.
But what essentials products do you carry all day, every day, just in case you travel, sleep at a friends house, or get stuck in a freak rainstorm right before a huge interview? Here are some that I keep in my purse at all times, just in case I have a beauty emergency.
1. Hair products
I’m so fortunate that my hair dries straight naturally, so the only thing I have to do in the morning is wash and brush. But hectic days make for greasy hair, so I always carry a small canister of dry shampoo to get ride of my oily roots. For those whose hair takes a little more work, try an anti-frizz serum to keep your hair sleek, or to pat down fly-aways if nothing else. And always, always make sure to keep a few extra bobby pins or hair bands around.
2. Moisturizing lotion
I swear by Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I take it with me everywhere go, and my face feels naked and almost shriveled without it. It’s different than the lotion, which makes my face feel heavy and totally clogs my pores. If I have time for nothing else in the morning, I will always make sure I put this on before I leave, even if it makes me late. Itchy, dry skin is so unsexy.
3. Mascara
No matter what my boyfriend tells me or what I read in any magazine about natural beauty, my eyes will always look better with mascara. I have thin, light lashes so any lengthening black mascara does the trick for me. Plus, it helps widen eyes and when added on lightly can look totally natural.
I prefer Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara in black: no clumps on their thin brush and it helps my lashes look long and full.
4. Blush
Blush is such a compact tool and one sweep on the apple of your cheeks gets you a fresh faced, just-pinched look. Just make sure you pick a color that look natural with your complexion.
5. Lip productsAnother issue I deal with is perpetually dry lips: no matter how many times I moisturize, whenever I look in the mirror my lips look like snake scales: all cracked. I think I carry about four different lip products, including Burts Bees Lip Balm; Zambuk, an organic lip balm from South Africa; Maybelline New York’s Baby Lips lip balm; and Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish, which gives my lips some shine and little tingle.
6. Deodorant and Roll-On Perfume
Sweating/being sweaty might actually be the bane of my existence, so I try to always be as clean and fresh-smelling as possible. I always keep a travel size deodorant tube and roll-on perfume that I can sneak on in the bathroom without anyone else knowing. The travel section at Target is great for these!
I know if I could carry around a bag the size of my body without it breaking my back, I would bring so much more with me. But a girl-on-the-go must travel lightly, and these essentials help me get through my days without looking like I just rolled out of bed.

Lovelies, what are the beauty essentials that you keep in your bag? Do you have anything else to add to the list?

Don’t really keep makeup with me. I’ll put it on before I leave, if I have to, and thats about it. I’ll keep handcream and lip-balm at the most, the rest would be just clutter for me.

My lipstick and even that I don’t reapply. I don’t know why I bother anymore. I don’t care. I am just as likely to go out without make up than I am to put it on. I used to carry all of that crap when I was younger. I remember my friends had battery powered curling irons. DO they even make those anymore?

I always carry my Blistex, lipstick and gloss; oh and hand cream.

The only thing I carry is lipbalm. I barely wear any make-up anyway.

Lipgloss, hand cream and roll on perfume. I would only bring my makeup bag if I plan on applying it in the bathroom after work if I had some place to go to right away after work. I never touch up my makeup at work (when I wear it) or when I am out except for lipgloss/lipstick. Usually I have time to go home and freshen up because I get off work at 4 and most of my friends get off work later. I also have a tiny tube of deodorant in my desk drawer at work in case I forget to apply it in the morning.

CHAPSTICK.

Hand lotion and some form of lip stuff.

Hand Sanitizer, Burt Bee’s lip balm, blotting powder for my T- Zone, travel size perfume, lip gloss, dry shampoo and deodorant for when I get out of the gym, hair brush, hair clip, and a hair tie. I believe that’s about it.

Chap stick, hand lotion, mini nail clippers, tampons (do they even count?), and a mini hairbrush. The bottom of my purse is also littered with hair ties.

@Erika_Steele@xanga - I used to see girls in high school bring their straighteners with them. I think I was one of them LOL.
The only thing I bring with me now is whatever lip product I’m wearing. If it’s lipstick I”m highly unlikely to reapply. But lately in an effort to not pick at my skin I’m going without makeup (usually only wear eye makeup anyways) so that I don’t get the urge to pick and scratch. And it seems to be helping a lot, since the picking-induced bumps are almost gone now and my forehead texture is much much better, almost normal! And well, I guess I carry tampons half the time. That’s really about it. I don’t reapply any of my makeup because none of it comes off (other than lip stuff due to eating/drinking) during the day. I see no point.

The only beauty product that I sometimes carry is lip balm. I never reapply my makeup throughout the day, unless I go back home. I just can’t be bothered, I guess.

@nicksgirl76@twitter - it’s awesome. if you have sensitive skin, clinque products are great.

@nicksgirl76@twitter - If you are talking about the one that is actually in the picture, then yes I have tried it and did not like it. It gets average ratings on makeupalley (with quite a lot of reviews), while the lotion version gets lower reviews than the gel. I found the gel to be almost drying for my dehydrated combo skin and I found it broke me out. It seemed to make my sebaceous filaments (which are the small brown dots most people mistake for blackheads) look way worse as well. Also, just because the brand is marketed towards sensitive skin doesn’t mean it will work for everyone – the products I’ve tried (cosmetics included) have all caused negative reactions, so I definitely recommend getting testers or samples when possible! I have reactive, sensitivity-prone skin btw.

Chap stick.
I do my make up in the morning, and don’t really think much of it the whole day hahaha.
I do think I should carry some type of moisturizer, though… I have such dry skin right now. : /

I make sure i always bring my tinted moisturizer, concealer, primer, bronzer, foundation, pressed powder, two shades of blush (one for day and one for night), the Naked 2 palette, a few MAC loose powders, Bare Minerals, 3 different shades of Stila eyeshadow and 2 little Maybelline palettes just in case. I also have eyeliner of course (gel, liquid and kohl pencils) in colors black, brown and brown black. Then of course you need mascara, you are so right. I always bring my volumizing, lengthening, curling, separating and defining ones so that i can layer them all on before I use the eyelash curler I have with me by Shu Uemara. Then I have eyelash glue in case I need to fix my false eyelashes if they should ever starting coming off at any point during the day. Then I have Burt’s bees lipbalm and Blistex and I also like the Dr. Pepper Lipsmacker so I have that with me at all times too. It is an essential MUST. For color in case I want to add that little extra something I have a cherry red matte color rouge lipstick. On top of that I like to layer a glittery lipgloss to add shimmer. Just gives it a little extra something which is what I like, that’s all. I carry tweezers with me too in case my eyebrows should ever require a bit of maintenance. Emery board, nail file, make up brushes (angled, kabuki, stipple, brow and eyeshadow brushes) for optimal blending, dry shampoo, hair brush, fine tooth comb, hair ties, barrettes, bobby pins, hair gel, hair spray, pomade, a curling iron, a flat iron, toner, face wash, exfoliating body wash, lotion (two kinds), perfume (4 kinds), a waxing kit, ace bandages, aloe and vera, sunscreen spf 30 and 45, band-aids, Desitin, a razor, shaving gel, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash are all just among a few of the things that I always carry with me in what my friends joke is a duffel bag but is really just a sensible Coach purse that I would be crazy without. Nyahaha? But yeah, other than that I normally don’t bother bringing tampons or deodorant. That would just be silly.

fyi – if you use chapstick too much, it conditions your lips to chap faster- making you buy more chapstick. I only say this becuase you said every time you look in the mirror they are chapped.

All I really carry around with me is chapstick. Hand lotion, sometimes.

Hand sanitizer and mary kay lipgloss. I don’t like mary kay that much but their lipgloss really does the trick for my dry lips! That way I don’t have to carry my lip balm with me and my lipstick.

im not sure if this is true or not but i think i read it in another post a while back. your lips might be too reliant on lip balms or chap stick. like the rest of your skin you lips have their own skin cells and if they can do what they do naturally they become depending on whatever your using. i realized this myself in the winter time mostly my lips will get really dry and crack sometimes. so i started using anything from chap stick to lip balm. before i realized it i was constantly putting more on cause my lips kept getting dry so fast. therefore i cut back and eventually my lips were fine. every once in a while ill bust out the chap stick or whatever i find in my purse at the time. then again everyone is different and this is just me. either way i hope that this helps you out a little bit.
