I’ve tried Atkins, The Zone, Low carb, and Isagenix… they all work, but it’s tough to keep weight off unless you make a true lifestyle change (which of course, is what everyone recommends).
What fad diets have you tried? What’s worked for you to keep your weight where you’d like it to be?

None, but I do diet for my chronic condition, I don’t eat the foods that make it worse.

I’ve never been on a diet in my life. I just make sure I eat in moderation and exercise. It’s really not that difficult.

I don’t do fad diets. I occasionally have to follow a diet that my doctor suggests for my condition.

I don’t diet… Hooray to not gaining weight!

My mom lost around 90 lbs sticking with the “south beach diet” – phase 1. then she slowly integrated phase 2 and 3 after losing the weight. It’s a pretty decent diet, more of a lifestyle change rather than a crash diet.

only computer or internet diet

I don’t believe fad diets work. That is the reason for it being a fad. It has to be a lifestyle change: decide to consistently eat a properly portioned balanced diet and regular exercise is the key to being healthy.

I’m doing the paleo diet right now!
It’s rough ._.

i’ve done the south beach diet. it’s VERY easy and because it gives real recipes that are actually really easy to make and very delicious, it’s easy to maintain it. also, weight loss is reasonable and not instant so it actually stays off for a while. the only problem with it is that the first 2 – 3 weeks are a “detox”… it can be hard to stick with it during that time

I’ve never been on a diet. I’ve never really wanted to lose weight. I’d rather gain a bit.

I did the Special K diet and it made me soooo hungry. I didn’t even make it the two weeks but I did start going to the gym again and eating healthier and I started to notice a difference in my body.

@EccentricSiren@xanga - Want to trade metabolisms? Mine will help you do that right away, I promise

I’ve only ever really tried self-imposed fad diets, the most recent one being the “Okay, seriously, TOMORROW I’m fasting, for realz this time” diet. Which is stupid and doesn’t work, like almost all fad diets.
I did lose a lot of weight a few years ago by eating 1 to 2 meals per day (TONS of baby carrots) and exercising twice a day, but I gained it all back because it’s easy to live that schedule when you’re home from college for the summer, but very hard to maintain when you need energy to work full time and take master’s classes and don’t have time for 2 hours of exercise every day. Yeah.

I tried Isagenix and it worked pretty well but it was AWFUL. The shakes and bars were just eh and the “cleanse” days were HORRIBLE (nothing but this nasty concoction and raw veggies). I lost about 10 pounds very quickly but the whole thing made me miserable and constantly hungry lol….

Food doctor and the seven day diet. Both made me violently ill and malnourished.

I’ve tried a ton and they would work for a few day, but then I’d ultimately have to lug my a$$ back to the gym. Boo.

Try the miracle banana diet! I just try running and not eating crap. Seems to work well.

has anyone tried the master cleanse? and didn’t gain it all back and then some days later? im healthy and exercise almost everyday, i need to lose 10 lbs for my vacation in china though, every girl my age is sooo thin there

I like paleo, but that’s gotta be a total and complete lifestyle change to get the full benefit. When I’m following it I just feel better.
@katethoughts@xanga - I tried it a while ago. It’s not fun and it’s not healthy. I don’t recommend.

I was on the “Poor College Student” diet for a while. I couldn’t afford food, so I rarely ate. Haha!

I had a strict diet and exercised 5-7 times a week. I lost over 40 pounds in about four months. Less than 1,000 calories per day, consisting of low-sodium, low-calorie foods. The problem with this was that I eventually got burnt out from exercising too much and not getting enough calories to replenish myself. I gained it all back after about a year. About 6 months ago I gradually started eating healthier and working out again. I try not to over do it these days and I’ve managed to slowly lose some of the weight I had gained back. The good thing about taking it slow is that I actually feel like I can keep up this lifestyle and even though I am losing the weight much slower, I am not getting burnt out and I don’t feel deprived. My calorie intake varies between 1350 and 2400 calories daily and I workout often (I try to go daily but I’m not hard on myself and I only do it if I have the time, I don’t stress over it if I can’t.) I also take breaks from my work and do random upper-body exercises at work when I get a few minutes.

i tried those ‘detox’ diets which i only got to drink lemon with syrup and water for days, it was horrible…i also tried many other diets. but i didnt lose much weight when i was trying different kinds of diets. instead, i lose weight gradually when i was just eating healthily and happily

It’s not really a diet but I did do a lot of water fasting back when I was bulimic, it worked well but it wasn’t healthy
