As far as the fantasy franchise goes, vampires seem to be fading into irrelevance. (Don’t worry, vamp fans: ten years ago everyone was about Anne Rice, that died out, and then came Twilight. Just think of the next decade as time to work on the next big vampire series.) Now, however, the public is getting excited over fairy tales, a la the highly successful TV show Once Upon a Time. Following this trend, 2012 will also grace us with not one, but two Snow White movies: Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman. But which do you think will be better? Watch their respective trailers after the cut and let us know!
While Mirror, Mirror looks absolutely gorgeous (Tarsem directed the movie; if you haven’t seen his film The Fall, you should at least check out some of the breathtaking screencaps from it), it just looks goofy compared to the high-tension, thrilling trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman. And I just don’t think I can genuinely like a Snow White film with lines like “Snow way!”. While I’ve never been the biggest Kristen Stewart fan, I think SWATH will give her an amazing chance to become more than Bella. And even if she fails, Charlize Theron will clearly astound audiences. Plus, there are two powerful, self-assured female leads in the movie, which I’m always a fan of.
What did you think of the trailers? Which movie will be better? Will you see either of them?

charlize

I don’t think you can really compare. The role might be the same, but the character really isn’t because the tone of each movie is entirely different. From what I could tell when I previously saw the trailers, MIrror, Mirror is more kid-friendly and the other one will probably be wanting to draw in older/adult crowds instead of kids. If we are talking who does the better acting and not just who’s a better evil queen, then I’d say Julia.

I’m definitely going to go see both of them! And I can’t wait. They both look great in different ways!

They both look like they’re good quality movies, but SWATH appeals much more to my tastes. I think I might actually go see it. Hopefully Kristen Stewart performs well. And I think it’s unfair to compare Theron and Roberts because their roles are essentially different. But so far I’m liking Theron overall.

I hate Julia Roberts. That horse mouth is just plain rude. Plus she’s arrogant.

I don’t care, but the wardrobe is FABULOUSSSSS!

I wouldn’t consider twilight a vampire series.

I’m so conflicted because I love Lily Collins and do not like Julia Roberts, but dislike Kristen Stewart but want to see Charlize (she is clearly the better queen). I wish Charlize and Lily were in the same movie! I think in the end I’ll go see Snow White and the Huntsman.

Can’t be compared as target audience is totally different.
The first one looks cool……assuming Kristen Stewart actually acts this time.

Guys, let’s leave the fairy tales to Disney?
guest
The Huntsman had so much potential until I saw someone who looks just like Kristen Stewart… Then it was just ruined…
guest
Charlize just seems more wicked.

@KyrieElise@xanga - Well, we can either sit and re-watch our favorite animated Disney classics, or branch out. I’m going with the latter. Plus, I’ll take Drew Barrymore in Ever After over the original Cinderella any day.
guest
@blackspiders@xanga - Seriously? T.T 2D Cinderella is so hot though. You don’t know what you’re talking about >.>

CHARLIIIIIIIIZE! She is so beautiful and can play an icy bitch. Julia Roberts look ridiculous. I’m all for the Huntsmen.
guest
i think the role charlize plays is more true to the queen i expect to see in snow white. julia’s queen just doesn’t pack the punch i want.
guest
Charlize Theron, but both Snow Whites seem pretty bad.

Well…Snow White and the Huntsman definitely looks awesome. But Kristen Stewart? REALLY?! Her facial expression never changes. She’s got to be the worst actress of all time. Big let down with choosing her.
Everything else about that one looks cool though. Maybe I’ll bring myself to get past that with my love for Charlize Theron.
The other movie just looks funny. =) I’d probably go see that before the other one because at least it doesn’t have Kristen Stewart in it. LOL

I’d take the comedy over the drama. That’s just my preference, though.

Lily Collins makes a good snow white (kinda wished her eyebrows weren’t so thick but she’s got the look and demeanor of snow white down), but Julia Roberts doesn’t pull off a good evil queen (seriously, the Evil Queen in “Once Upon A Time”, the TV Series, is exactly how I picture Evil Queen, but Charlize makes a surprisingly good evil queen too!!) However, I dislike Kristen Stewart cause that girl can’t act (let’s see if she manages to do so in this movie) .

charlize all the way!
guest
@ashleya - We both have the same opinion! lol.

@blackspiders@xanga - I love that movie. Never been a big fan of Disney’s Cinderella, though the 3rd one (Twist in Time) was actually really good IMO because the two of them have to actually go through a lot to be together and fight for their love.
guest
@devour_my_broken_soul@xanga - Yeah I have to agree. When I think of Snow White, I think of someone with regal, soft features. It would be understandable if they cast Kristen for her acting abilities, but in comparison to other actresses her age…I mean, what about Ellen Paige?
guest
i’m watching Mirror Mirror because of julia roberts. i had high hopes for Snow White & the Huntsman, but with kristen stewart int it? no thanks.
guest
At first glance I thought Charlize because she simply looks more evil.
But Mirror Mirror seems to be a funny movie, and Julia does great in the role of a rather ridiculous evil queen. I agree with everyone you cannot really compare.
I just think I like Mirror Mirror better, and watching Julia will be more fun, but that’s because I prefer comedy in general.

@elainer7124@xanga - Exactly… I love Ellen Paige… She has much better potential.
