When we posted about Sprinkles’ cupcake ATM earlier this week, a few of you said you’d rather just make your own. A cupcake dispenser does take all the fun out of it if you love to bake, and if you love to innovate. The sky is the limit with flavor combinations and creative decorating ideas, so I thought I’d share a handful of recipes I’ve stumbled upon recently that might inspire some cupcake baking. And I’d love to hear your favorite go-to combinations, too. Take a look.
Martha Stewart’s Nesting Baby Birds cupcakes are an old favorite of mine, and are super season-appropriate!
These Tiramisu cupcakes look absolutely irresistible.
S’mores cupcakes? Yep those go on my to-do list. My boyfriend is a big fan of s’mores and cupcakes… it’s a no-brainer.
I love red velvet cake in an unhealthy way. So these Red Velvet Cheesecake cupcakes are a mashup from heaven.
If you’re never tried making Rainbow cupcakes, they’re as much fun to look at as they are to eat.
My favorite flavor combination — maybe ever — is Salted Caramel. Any way to slice it (and the insides of these are pretty spectacular) this is a great recipe.
If you’re into subtle creaminess and warm flavors, these Banana Cupcakes with Honey Cinnamon Frosting might be right up your alley. Thanks again to Martha.
You can’t not get a little nostalgic with these Cookie Monster cupcakes. After all, there’s a little cookie monster in all of us.
No addiction is overlooked when it comes to cupcakes, and those of you who love Oreos, get ready for all new realms of self-control. Or just…lack thereof.
And the most dangerous addiction: Peanut Butter and Chocolate in a cupcake together. Bet you can’t eat just one!
Cupcakes are brilliant in a sense because they are pre-measured portions of a dangerous substance: cake. But what’s life without a little indulgence, right? Especially if you’ve got a crowd to please. These cupcakes won’t last long anywhere you take them.
What are your favorite cupcake flavor combinations? Care to share any great recipes?

I think I have to first master the baking of a plain cupcake…

I love the last two. Not that the others don’t look good, they do. It’s just if I do spend hours making and decorating cupcakes, I want them to be eaten. My son would only eat the last two (and maybe the rainbow one).

This is strange, but I love baking and these made me really excited, but I don’t like cake. I probably wouldn’t eat any of these but I’ll probably make them all for a sick friend at some point.

I’ve done the Reeses brownie cupcakes, but without the icing. They were thick and sweet enough as is (but delicious). I’d definitely be willing to try the Tiramisu.. mm.
