Remember the rare baby bunny without ears, born about three weeks ago in Germany?

 
Well sadly, the zoo invited a TV camera crew to film the earless bunny and it ended in tragedy. 



“We are all shocked. During the filming, the cameraman took a step back and trod on the bunny,” Dempewolf said. “He was immediately dead, he didn’t suffer. It was a direct hit. No one could have foreseen this. Everyone here is upset. The cameraman was distraught.”

“We had planned a news conference for tomorrow and we wanted to market it via the media because rabbits without ears are pretty rare. But now this unfortunate event has occurred. The other five bunnies are right as rain. It is regrettable that he was the one who got stepped on.”

Til’s body will now be frozen while zoo officials decide whether to have him stuffed.

Someone decided to turn a cute little thing into a media star and invite the press… and the cute little thing was crushed and trampled to death by the paparazzi.  Kind of sounds like a parable about Hollywood.  Except the part where they stuff the body… ugh.  That just feels wrong.

Imagine that you were the director of the zoo.  You messed up and indirectly caused the death of a newborn baby bunny.  If you stuffed the bunny, you might be able to attract crowds of people… and all that money would go to fund the care of other animals at the zoo.  But then again, you’d have to stuff the bunny that died under your watch, and then charge people to see it.
