Emmanuelle Béart, who was 33-years-old when she starred in Mission: Impossible, now deeply regrets her plastic surgery. She told Le Monde that plastic surgery “is a grave act in which you don’t necessarily foresee all the consequences. And it’s an act that touches the soul.”
This and more came out in a Today Show profile on how more and more actresses are speaking out against plastic surgery.
Emmanuelle Béart elaborated on her regrets to The Daily Mail, saying ”Obviously, if I had liked my mouth I wouldn’t have had it re-done. If a man or woman has something redone it is because he or she can no longer live with that part of their body, it is no longer bearable. Either they get help and find the strength to fight [the need to have plastic surgery] or they proceed with the act.”
The video highlights a number of celebs who regret their plastic surgery, including some big names. Maybe this growing pushback against plastic surgery will trigger a backlash? We can all dream.
Do you think you’ll ever get plastic surgery? Do you know anyone who has gotten bad plastic surgery, and regretted it?

If I’m unhappy with something and can change it I will.

What the hell did Emmanuelle Beart do? She did not need any enhancements whatsoever. She fucked up her face. While I still think people shouldn’t have surgery unless it’s absolutely necessary i.e. disfigurement through accident or facial abnormality, I don’t really see anything “wrong” with having cosmetic surgery. I don’t know if I’ll ever go through with having surgery, but I must admit, I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve had friends who had surgery on their eyes, and none of them regretted getting it done.

Needles scare me. I cried before getting my wisdom teeth pulled (even with them using laughing gas as well), and that was necessary needle-usage. So like hell I’m opting for something optional involving needles.

@ShimmerBodyCream@xanga - Exactly. Have you gotten anything? You’re gorgeous, so i wouldn’t be surprised

It really, truly irritates me when ignorant people like to pass judgments on the plastic surgery industry as a whole. One woman who gets 20 repeats of the same procedure with a doctor she did not even research and question before the procedure is a freaking moron. Surgery is surgery. If you don’t know what you’re doing then i really don’t feel sorry for what you get. Most people are not that stupid. Celebrities tend to have an aura of deluded infallibility and think that they’re immune to the horrors normal people might be more inclined to worry about because they have money. The vast majority of people who get plastic surgery do not have a sign saying so plastered on their faces and you’ll never know.
Check out realself.com (I recommend this site for anyone considering plastic surgery). You will get real reviews, see tons of before/afters, and get an idea of what you can and can’t expect from different procedures. Also there are many answers to questions on procedures from board certified plastic surgeons.
I had a nose job, cheek fat injections, and in the future when I can afford to do and am in the right physical shape. I plan to get a breast lift. These are not things i take lightly and thus far has extremely improved my well being. Nobody has any idea I’ve had a nose job unless I tell them.

Oh, goodness. She looked so lovely before.
I’m not down with plastic surgery, but I don’t necessarily pass judgment on those who are. I just think it’s sort of sad that we can’t learn to love what we’ve been dealt.

@ShimmerBodyCream@xanga - Totally support you in this, if i don’t like a part of me and there is a chance for me to fix it, why not ….

I am sorry she had a bad experience with plastic surgery. I consider plastic surgery all the time, but I would never have it done because I would never be satisfied and I don’t think most plastic surgeons would perform it on me anyway.

I just think it’s really sad that people need surgery to be happy with themselves.

I’m only going to consider it when I start to show a lot of signs of age, and even then probably not because I think it’s a huge waste of money. However, I would be lying if I said I had never daydreamed about liposuction or a tummy tuck. I would consider a slight breast augmentation but ONLY if I had the income to justify it. I think it’s more productive to work on your mindset than to start screwing with your face, but if someone really can’t stand something about themselves and they want to change it, I don’t feel like it’s my place or anybody else’s really to condemn them for that.
Honestly, if I had the money, I would probably rather spend it on tattoos and new clothes

I think that if we as women ever want to get laid we have to consider and do it. Men are visual creatures and they sort of expect it. I mean ok you can also stay single.
But is is wrong to annoy other people with ugliness. Or complain. Get fixed or wear a bag over your head.

For the most part, I find plastic surgery to be incredibly shameful. I have twin nieces who were born with a brain disorder that kept their bodies from working normally from day one. One passed away a few years ago, but the other, Emma, is still unable to sit up, or even relax her muscles. When I think of my nieces needing expensive surgery just to be comfortable, I immediately forget any desire to get plastic surgery.
I’m not saying that someone who was in a horrific, disfiguring accident should never ever consider cosmetic surgery. I can understand that. But, when I hear reasons for surgery like “I don’t like my lips,” or “I don’t want to look old,” I get frustrated.
BTW – It’s okay to look your age! Being “old” isn’t bad. I wish our culture was one who respected aging, instead of mocking it.

Here’s a link to one of her other interviews where she talks about beauty. It’s sad that she wasn’t happy with her mouth when she contradictorily talked about beauty being a balance of what is within and what is on the outside. I remember watching Manon of the Spring in my french class and LOVED her in it. I’m really disappointed now.
