Oh, and he thinks she’s fat. Batting a thousand, Dad.
Ronald Fenty recently spoke with Heat Magazine for their new March issue, and had a couple horrifying things to say regarding his daughter. No really, they’re not cool.
For one, he thinks Rihanna should rekindle her romance with Chris Brown, regardless of the fact that, you know, he beat the girl almost to a pulp. Ahem. And I quote, ”Chris is a nice guy”, says Fenty, “and everybody’s entitled to make mistakes in their life. God knows how many I’ve made.” Okay, sorry if I’m wrong here, but isn’t this guy, as a father, supposed to have murder in his eyes anytime anyone so much as mentions Chris Brown’s name? I’m not saying that this should necessarily be the other way around — a situation in which Fenty is completely throwing Brown under the bus— but to compliment him? Have you not read the police report? Did you not see your daughter’s face after that nice guy repeatedly punched it? Holy moly, man. I’m all for the “people can change” mantra, but if he’s still apparently pulling horrible shenanigans like this, we’re thinkin’ maybe change hasn’t been something on CB’s agenda.
And then, because that wasn’t enough of a statement in and of itself, Fenty decide to comment on Rihanna’s weight, alluding to the fact that the singer was a little hefty the last time he saw her last August. Right. Daddy Fenty, though, took the liberty of letting his daughter in on the fact that she wasn’t looking her best, in his opinion. Since then she’s gotten back to her “normal size”, he says, even saying she looked “excellent” at the Grammy’s. YEAH, WE THOUGHT SO TOO.
I’m sure Rihanna’s dad has some redeeming qualities, and sometimes interviewers have the habit of twisting your words a little bit. But boy, if this doesn’t make me thank my lucky stars that I have a father who probably wouldn’t support the man who beat me (I only say probably because the situation never occurred), and will only allude to my overindulgence when I’m on my 6th cookie. It’s the little things. (via Page Six)
What do you think of the interview? Should he have commented on his daughter’s relationship with Chris Brown or kept his mouth shut?

It’s cool, we all mistakes and beat the living shit out of our significant others from time to time. Remember, just keep turning the other cheek, and for goodness sake don’t you dare gain weight.
guest
@thiscrazyworld@xanga - lol. I don’t get what you mean about the whole gaining weight thing though!

I think they should only be friends NOTHING MORE! I watched an interview of Chris Brown being interviewed about beating up Rihanna and I couldn’t see any remorse. Chris Brown needs to go to therapy, but he’s to headstrong to listen to what anyone tells him. As long as Chris Brown has all this anger built up in him he’s never going to have a good relationship. He’s too dangerous!

Well, it’s amazing that Rihanna has such confidence with a dad like this. Dad should date Chris Brown if he thinks he is such a nice guy.

@fromprivatetopublic@xanga - The third paragraph about her dad saying she looks better now that she’s lost weight. *shakes head*
guest
@Still_Bruhaha@xanga - I agree! You’d have to be pretty strong to deal with a dad who’d say shit like that. :/
Personally, my dad would’ve probably beaten that guy’s ass. If not him, I have three brothers who’d feel the same.
That aside, when the hell did she look fat?!! Rihanna always looks good, even if her hair looks weird and she’s wearing something crazy. o_0

@blackspiders@xanga - I thought the same thing! Even if she did gain weight, most females would loooove to have her body.

My ex hit me, and when I told my dad he went straight to the police. I feel quite sorry for her if her dad treats her like that, maybe it’s why she doesn’t have enough self-confidence to stay away from Chris.

Wow.

@thiscrazyworld@xanga - lol, I stopped reading after the first paragraph!

=(
This post just makes me sad. Like you said, maybe it’s just interviewers and the media twisting words, but I wouldn’t know what to do if I read something like that from my dad if I were in her position. It would crush me if my dad told me I was looking “a little hefty,” and I already know for a fact that if someone laid a hand on me the police would be involved in an instant, no looking back. Already had to watch it with my sister, and I know nothing would be different with me.
This just makes me sad all around

Only God can judge me… or you… or him… or anybody else on this planet.
That’s all I need to say about this.

Now I can completely understand why she was attracted to a person like Chris Brown in the first place…
guest
and with this interview, her dad got exactly what he wanted; a piece of her fame.

You’d all be surprised at the things that West Indian and Caribbean people tolerate in relationships. Seriously.

I’m really bothered by the bashing on multiple people in this post. None of us were actually there for the interview and none of us know Rhianna, her dad or Chris Brown. The fact is, people are complicated and we make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes are taken out of context. Don’t talk about things that you don’t have a full understanding of. Guess what, even the evil people aren’t wholly evil–they sometimes have good, redeeming qualities, too. That’s what makes us human and what makes the world so complicated.

he looks like an older wrinkley version of chris. hurhur

@xplode_2day@xanga - What she said. They’re Caribbean. Afro-Caribbean. This is more than normal. It’s expected.

what is this man doing talking to a MAGAZINE (or anyone for that matter)? clearly he’s insane
rihanna should just cut him out of her life. its not like she needs daddy’s money anyway.

@xplode_2day@xanga & @MoonFaeEyryan@xanga what?!!! care to elaborate? my sister says the same thing but i refused to believe her. i just assumed she was saying horrible things about carribeans because her best friend’s ex husband beat and threatened to kill her. im intrigued by this.

what the hell.

No, but, don’t forget Rihanna’s dad is infamous for beating her mom!!! I remember this from looooong ago when she first started her career she stated that in an interview.
guest
well they say women sometimes tend to date men like their fathers. Chris Brown certainly is like Rihanna’s dad; they’re both horrible people.
guest
I’m guessing media only turned to him to cause a stir with Rihanna’s fans. Or he’s doing the same shit as Linday Lohans dad.

“Her childhood was deeply affected by her father’s addiction to crack cocaine, alcohol, and marijuana”

sounds like a great judge of character…

@PureLilly@xanga - i don’t know how to explain exactly… but I’m West Indian (Guyanese) and I hear so many stories about people my mom knew or people from her village/town that got married and their husbands beat them, or hit them once, or maybe they were just being controlled by their husbands or something…. but in the end most of the time family members got involved and the woman either left them or the husband got “mysteriously” beat up or threatened… OR things some how worked out and it stopped happening and things got better. It’s just a common thing to hear about (which doesn’t make it right) and Caribbean or West Indian women go through it like its a phase.

@xplode_2day@xanga - wow, smh

He’s entitled to his opinion like everyone else.

The media twists your words A LOT. Like, I mean warping them to the point where they’re not even your words anymore. A girl I know experienced it first hand. I think this is a lie, I definitely don’t think someone would say shit like that about their daughter, to be posted in a magazine that his daughter would most definitely see..
Come on, people. Don’t give in to the media & believe everything you read.
