I have a small chest and my headlamps stick out through my shirt like diamonds. I could never find a bikini top I liked because it either had padding which came out when I washed them or the bikini dwarfed my chest.
For girls who have the same two problems, I present two solutions.
1. DIY Criss-Cross Halter Bikini
I turned a regular triangle bikini into a criss-cross halter bikini like this one from American Apparel. You need a triangle bikini that has sliding ties or it won’t work.
Pull your triangles apart and loop the chest-tie over your neck and tie the ends behind you. Pull the neck-ties criss-cross and tie those behind your back too. Adjust to cover. I was surprised and really excited that this style actually looks quite good on flat-chested me.
2. DIY Reverse Tie Bikini
Here’s another style I did last year.
I tied the chest-tie around my neck and tied the neck-ties behind me. The triangles don’t dwarf my boobs and I don’t like quite so flat-chested. Also, the wrinkles mask my nipples when I get nipple-y from the water. Double win!
I’m actually excited to go shopping for triangle bikinis with cute patterns for the summer.
Look for solid colors and consistent patterns with no alignment or 4-way alignment. Stripes or anything with a 2-way alignment will look weird if you want to match the bottoms.
Would you try this? If you did, what’d you think?

I can’t see the picture for the bottom one, but from the description, I think it’s the same as what I do with one of my cheap target bikinis. It’s awesome for small chested girls because it ends up being quite tight which “outlines” our boobs, making them look bigger. Plus you don’t have to worry about losing your top!
