Ever have the feeling your tattoo artist doesn’t know what he or she is doing? Maybe you should trust your gut instinct.
I know people get very excited over getting a new tattoo. Usually they are very meaningful tattoos, and sometimes people choose to have another person’s face tattooed on themselves. Whatever you do, just make sure you find a qualified tattoo artist, or you might end up sporting a creepy child on your back for the rest of your life.
What do you think of these tattoos?

I’ve never understood why someone would get someone’s face tattooed on their body. Names I can see, but faces? That just weirds me out.

haha what the helllll!
Not gonna lie, I have NEVER liked portrait tattoos. They’re as ghetto as getting a 1pt name drawn on in cursive…

is it only portraits that usually fail?

Yeah, I’ve never really thought any portrait tattoos came out anything but weird, distorted or even creepy.
What I think makes the biggest impact as far as tattoos representing your child – footprints. I think those with name & birthdate can be very tastefully done.
I have NO tattoos though. Needle phobia. *lol* I only get needs when I have to – so during pregnancy & labor.

Simple solution: don’t get someone’s face tattooed on your body.

Ugh I could never get a portrait done. However, if that’s what you want to do, you should probably talk to your tattoo artist first about their experience with portraits and see if they have like a portfolio of the work that they’ve done. My tattoo artist has a picture of Jack Nicholson from the Shining that he tattooed on a client and it is spot on, so I know he does a pretty damn good job.

It is very rare to find a tattoo artist that can do an awesome portrait. If you just walk into a random tattoo shop and ask for a portrait, you deserve what you get. Actually, that goes for any tattoo.

Anything that goes permanently on your body is a risk. Before you get a tattoo, any tattoo, other than deciding if you can live with that tattoo for the rest of your life, there are other things to look for. Do your freaking research, go to a trusted and accredited and highly recommended shop AND ARTIST. Ask to see previous tattoos they’ve done, check to see how shaky the lines (or outlines) are. If you are getting something super risky as a portrait, check out that artist’s previous portraits. If they don’t have any photos, DON’T do it.

Wow. Those are horrible. A lot of people don’t know that every tattoo artist has their specific strengths. It’s apparent that these guys above suck at portraits. Every worth-it tattoo parlor is going to have books of previous tattoos done by the artist, always gotta check that shit out. Also the outline before they actually ink you. If that looks sketchy I run.

I’ve seen some portraits that were amazing, but I imagine they don’t come cheap. If you are getting a portrait for cheap, it’s probably going to look like a gremlin.

Oh, gosh.

Why would someone get Robert Pattinson or whatever his name is, tattooed on them?
I never liked portrait tattoos, all the ones i’ve seen are ugly and look nothing like the picture =\ kids always look demonic. Ew. -.-

@misslei11@xanga - I was thinking the same thing… and then I was thinking I feel horrible for any guy who has to look at that face during doggy style…

You NEED, if you wish to get a portrait tattoo, a very good portrait tattoo artist. Some tattoo artists can do anything except portraits.

haha

Oh dear.

Never liked tattoos that try to be very realistic, like these portraits, or a pet’s face. I think they come out weird looking.

@colormysky27@xanga - Omg yes, I didn’t even think about that! Poor guy

there is also that lady who has “DRAKE” on her forehead…
and the lady who has Ashton Kutcher’s face on her arm.
people never cease to amaze me.

When I get my ink it will just be a simple UV triforce.

I don’t understand why so many people have such a difficult doing their research when planning to get a tattoo… instead of just going into a random place with a random person to get it done.

A tattoo artist should be better than someone who makes random doodles on their homework sheets.

Lol.

Oh my.

LOL Omgsh the one of the two girls is horrible! They look like monsters!
And someone would get a tattoo of Robert Pattinson……

I’m neutral on the idea of portrait tattoos. I mean, they’re practically permanent and it’s the owner’s choice. It’s a personal thing so who are we to judge on whether it’s “a good idea” or not even if it could turn out badly?
But anyway I feel like the issue with these particular tattoos is that the tattoo artists that did them totally suck at it, and portraits are neither their specialty nor do they have good experience in tattooing them. If you look at them you can really tell that the artist made the tattoo look like the picture EXACTLY; wrinkle for wrinkle and shade for shade. An experienced artist would be smarter about it and either accentuate parts of the face or mute other characteristics out that would translate awkwardly to the body.

@clumsyandunaware@xanga - Can’t even see names….unless they are your children. Lovers come and go. Never put their names on you….
Kids and parents are ok….Those you never part with…Those stay in your heart…. <3

Considering a portrait tattoo?
Google Nikko Hurtado. Amazing.

I have seen some very beautiful and amazing portrait tattoos, these just don’t happen to be them..
