I’ve always wanted to wear socks with heels, but I thought I’d look weird. I was afraid I’d get stares from everyone, but not in a good way. I’m glad I didn’t wear socks with my heels because after reading this, I know I didn’t have the right socks or heels.
The trick to wearing socks with heels is color and texture. You need to have socks that contrast the color of your heels. If you can’t find contrasting colors, make sure you don’t match your socks and heels. That would look pretty awkward. And the main point you have to remember is that your socks need to be very thin. You don’t want your socks to bulge over the top of your shoes. That never looks good!
I’ve seen some girls on my campus working this style, but I’m not sure I’m confident enough to strut my stuff in socks and heels. If I ever do try it out, I know I’d wear pointed-toe heels with really fun bright socks. I love the red socks and orange heels in the photo above.
Will you Lovelies try out this trend?

I think it’s hideous.

I don’t think socks look right if I wear them with heels–especially not with ruffled socks! The ruffled socks remind me of school picture day, of fluffy dresses and uncomfortable Mary Janes.

I’ve done it. You have to have the right everything to make it work. Dress, hair, makeup, accessories. The whole outfit has to look right, then people won’t notice that ‘whoa she’s wearing socks and heals’.
guest
That is one trend that I have always thought of as gag-me-ugly.

who the hell wears heels on campus? I rocked up to uni in thongs almost every time I went for a lecture or class lol but I’m lazy.
guest
I’ve done it but it is hard to pull off and isn’t for the faint of heart

I only like it on the runways!

I really like it, but it’s not for me. I feel like the socks cut off my legs visually and make me look shorter and stouter

The trick to wearing socks with heels is to leave the damn socks at home because this looks horrible.

No.

It’s like trying to confuse formal with casual and making both uncomfortable.

a) it’s ugly, and b) who the hell wears high heels walking around campus? I went to university with 30,000 students and I never saw anyone except staff wearing heels to class.

@daydreams_nightmares@xanga - Really? At my college, it is not uncommon to see a few girls attempting to look cool by awkwardly navigating the crowded halls in teetering heels. The other day a girl rocked it (ha) with thigh-high black boots with heels, leather short shorts, and fishnet stockings. Maybe I just go to school with a bunch of weirdos. o.0

@blackspiders@xanga - haha, it could just be because our campus has loads of hills and most people have to walk to get there, but I’ve never really seen it (except on naive freshmen who soon learn after a couple of weeks, lol)

am too old for this look. However, this is an “ugly” trend that I like whenever it comes around. I almost want to say screw it I wear a lot of things that I am too old for and wear the look anyway. My 19 year old inner child is screaming, “yes, please mother may I wear this look (for the third time in my life).”

i dont think i can do it.

I mean, I go to a private art school so its full of fashionistas and people who dress up on the daily. I really think this could work, but you also have to pair it with the right outfit/style!

@heythereJOANN@xanga - Me too. This is one of those “trends” that I just don’t understand…

the trick with wearing socks with heels is to not do it.

^ this! haha..

I don’t like the way it looks, but I imagine it’s comfortable and for that reason a lone I hope this catches on and stays awhile.
guest
meh.. I don’t think I could pull it off. It looks cool in pictures I guess but I feel like if I saw someone actually wearing this it would just look weird..

Unless your name is Dorothy and your best friends a scarecrow, a tin man, and a cowardly lion – just don’t do it.

ew haha why would you do that? it’s combining something ugly and something really painful

Oh my…
