Author Suzanne Collins posted a rave review of the upcoming film based on her book, The Hunger Games:
Breaking news! A message from Suzanne Collins…Dear Readers,
I’ve just had the opportunity to see the finished film of The Hunger Games. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I feel like the book and the film are individual yet complementary pieces that enhance one another. The film opens up the world beyond Katniss’ point of view, allowing the audience access to the happenings of places like the Hunger Games control room and President Snow’s rose garden, thereby adding a new dimension to the story.
Director Gary Ross has created an adaptation that is faithful in both narrative and theme, but he’s also brought a rich and powerful vision of Panem, its brutality and excesses, to the film as well. His world building’s fantastic, whether it be the Seam or the Capitol. It’s amazing to see things that are suggested in the book fully developed and so brilliantly realized through the artistry of the designers.
And, my God, the actors. The cast, led by the extraordinary Jennifer Lawrence, is absolutely wonderful across the board. It’s such a pleasure to see how they’ve embodied the characters and brought them to life.
So I’d like to sincerely thank all the many people who devoted their time and talents to the film, especially producers Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, and the excellent teams at Color Force, Larger Than Life, and Lionsgate.
I hope you enjoy the film!

The movie is also testing well: 23% of people are saying that the movie is their First Choice to watch when it comes out, and 54% are saying that they have Definite Interest in watching the film. Deadline Hollywood gave the film the ultimate compliment:
One studied provided me with a guesstimate that the first film based on the Suzanne Collins bestselling books could open to $70+M — which would make this bigger than the the Twilight debut. “It’s every bit as strong As Twilight and, numerically, stronger,” one rival studio told me this morning.
Are you planning to see The Hunger Games? If so, will you catch it opening weekend or wait for it to come out on DVD?

I wish people would stop comparing the Hunger Games to Twilight. The two are nothing alike.

The books were amazing. So who knows how the movie could turn out.
@daydreams_nightmares@xanga - The did it with Harry Potter, too, & they’re nothing alike. It’s just in terms of popularity & money, since they were both books first.

@daydreams_nightmares@xanga - @Ride_Every_Stride@xanga - Agree, agree, agree!! This is not sparkly vampire love story! I’m so excited for it to come out, but I too wish they’d stop comparing it to Twilight.

I’m most likely going to see the midnight premiere of the movie. I just need to find somebody to go with.
I think Hunger Games might break Twilight’s record for an opening night film. Then justice will finally be served! Which will be good, considering this is the first film in the books series and it opens in March versus opening in the summer time and/or near Christmas time.

CAN’T EVEN WAIT FOR THE MIDNIGHT SHOWING.

aww, that’s wonderful! I’m just glad that suzanne collins likes it. because its her work, so it must be really upsetting to have your work turned into something you hate – so I’m glad she likes it!!

I’m fairly confident that this first movie will be great. But I really hated the ending of the third book. If they decide to make the whole trilogy, I wonder how they’ll reconcile it? Will they stay faithful to the book, or alter it to satisfy the film-only fans?

I got midnight tickets. =]
…And I admit, even though the books are awesome, I also bought midnight tickets in hope that it would beat Twilight. =S
