Fans of Manhattan’s infamous single gal have reason to rejoice or, maybe groan. The young version of Carrie Bradshaw in the much talked about Sex & The City prequel has finally been cast. AnnaSophia Robb will be filling the always glamorous shoes of young Carrie in the CW’s The Carrie Diaries [via Jezebel] 

AnnaSophia who is 18 years old will be reprising the role previously made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker. While many fans of the show don’t see a need for a prequel, it seems enough people (or at least the network) want to see where it all began. The show will revolve around Carrie in the 1980′s in Manhattan when she first started dealing with all the drama that comes with love, friendship and sex. Basically, what we know and love Carrie for. Personally I think it was a good call casting someone who isn’t that well-known. With prior films like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Soul Surfer she has proved she can hang on the big screen, but it will be interesting to see if she can do the same in a role that is well known. Also landing roles are Katie Findlay and Ellen Wong who will play Carrie’s high school BFFs. [via People] Unfortunately, we will not be seeing her other soul mates: Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. Oh, and that final one, Mr. Big. Any guesses on what Carrie’s dating life was like before her column? Well, it looks like we’ll be finding out soon!
