Without the obvious name in the bottom left-hand corner, can you honestly recognize this Australian-born beauty? Haute Muse has a habit of retouching models on the cover to make them look like anything but themselves. Along with Miranda Kerr’s retouched photo, Haute Muse also retouched Kim Kardashian’s photo for the December 2011 issue.
Miranda Kerr is known for her bright, youthful face, and this cover doesn’t give off that vibe. With the style dress Kerr is wearing and the smokey eye, she appears much older than 28-years-old. She is a young and beautiful girl, and she doesn’t need to be retouched.
Below are some more recognizable photos of Miranda Kerr.
Why do you think Haute Muse decided to retouch Kerr’s photo?

She looks like Carmen Diaz.

The Kim Kardashian cover looked like Kim with lipstick, which she doesn’t wear often; I guess that might prevent the feeble-minded from recognizing her immediately. This cover just looks like unsmiling Miranda Kerr with hair in the way. Obviously it’s harder to immediately recognize her when half of her face is obscured, but mostly she isn’t giggling girlishly like in every other photo of her. I’m not seeing any wacky retouching, just glamor studio lighting rather than natural beach sunlight.

@LaughOutLoudLauren@xanga - You know you’re right. Like they added bone structure & she looks highly similar because of it.

she isn’t smiling as usual, so it makes her look awkward. it would be like seeing a picture of victoria beckham smiling, which would be unlike her to smile. we aren’t used to seeing her looking so serious. she is too adorable to look pissed off in this cover photo. and we aren’t used to seeing a half naked victoria’s secret model covered up in high fashion clothes with super long sleeves

I don’t know if it’s her facial expression or something but you’re right. I see what you’re saying. She almost looks older & tired. I’d rather see her fresh faced & bright. She looks best that way & I think that’s also in part due to that her personality shines through when she is. She’s always beautiful but sometimes less is more & a lot of magazines need to reconsider that.

@LaughOutLoudLauren@xanga - I completely agree!

@LaughOutLoudLauren@xanga -Yes, I can see Cameron Diaz, too. In fact, if I didn’t know the person on the cover was Miranda Kerr, I would’ve thought she was Cameron.

She looks good, but she does look very different. She’s gorgeous even un-retouched so I wish they could’ve just left it.

1) She isn’t smiling, and smiling totally changes your face. Which (I believe) is why you are not supposed to smile for your license/ID (at least here).
2) Half of her face is hidden by her hair. Covering up half of your face will make you look different, as will any difference in hair style if it’s quite noticeably different. With her face half-covered, it looks less wide, which also changes how recognizable she is.
And yes, totally thought she looks like Cameron Diaz.

I think I would be ble to recognize her not smiling…I think it’s the eye make-up.
