I am currently just having one of those days where everything that can go wrong, is going wrong. After returning from the car repair shop, I just could not wait to kick my shoes off and relax. Well, instead I kicked my shoes off and stepped on a bee. This is the first time I have been stung by a bee in my adult life, and let me tell you I wept like a child. With my mom not here to come to my rescue (downside of moving out), I quickly turned to Google to find a solution to my stinging, swelling toe. Ah Ha! A simple mixture of vinegar and baking soda mixed together to form a paste has relieved both my pain and suffering. This simple straight from the kitchen cabinet solution got me thinking curiously about what other health issues I can use vinegar to fix. Below are a D.I.Y. health remedies that involve vinegar!
.
Backache? Soaking in a bathtub of hot water and 2 cups vinegar for 30 minutes will help relieve a minor backache and soothe sore muscles.
Cough? Sprinkle apple cider vinegar on your pillowcase to control nighttime coughing.
Headache? Lie down and apply a compress dipped in a mixture of half warm water and half vinegar to the temples.
Sunburn? Splash it over the sunburned area, then lightly rub into the skin. You can also dilute the vinegar and put it in a spray bottle to apply.
Dandruff? Mix vinegar with two cups of warm water after shampooing.
Stomachache? Drink 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup water.
Lovelies, do you have any remedies that use vinegar? What are some of your favorite home remedies?

Apparently consuming apple cider vinegar can help prevent mosquito bites or at least reduce the number you get. It’s given to horses to help keep flies and other biting insects away

vinegar and baking soda will clean just about anything. Vinegar and water your windows and it takes the smell out of just about anything stinky. It’s cheap and is not toxic in any way. Great stuff!

I… do not trust that list at all. I think I’ll keep weak acids away from my sunburns.

Oh yeah, baking soda and vinegar are miracle workers! Though, I would never put it on my pillowcase, I’d rather put a little bit on a washcloth so my pillow doesn’t smell strongly of vinegar.
Oh, if you rinse your hair with water and ACV in the shower, it makes your hair super shiny! And it will remove any shampoo or conditioner residue in your hair
@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - It should work for sunburns, I mean, if you get stung by a jellyfish, pouring vinegar on your stings helps relieve pain and prevent you from being stung further. Seems like a similar principle to me.

@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - Skin and hair are actually on the acidic end of pH but most the products we use are extremely alkaline. Dilute vinegar is actually in the same pH range as your scalp.

I use an apple cider vinegar rinse anytime I get my hair wet (which I TRY to do only if I’m washing it). I also use a splash in some distilled water to help with my hard water problem when my face is concerned. I haven’t used it for sunburn yet. For that I still prefer to snap a leaf off my aloe plant.

I used to suffer from acne all over my face. I used everything, and nothing would help. Then one day I read somewhere that vinegar could help bad skin. I went out and bought some distilled white vinegar and tried it out.. It burned like hell at first, but the next morning the results were visible. I keep doing it every night, and soon my acne disappeared completely. I never diluted it though, and that’s what worked for me. @Murphy_Rants@xanga - I do the same when I get a burn. It’s so soothing!

@sayquestions@xanga - Did it dry you out at all? The one thing that works for me is antibacterial handsoap, but it’s a no-go in the winter because it also dries me out :/

I recently had minor foot surgery and my doctor has had me doing 10-15 minute soaks of my injured foot in a few teaspoons of plain Epsom salt, a tablespoon or so of plain white distilled vinegar, and warm water a few times a day to encourage healing. In other words: when diluted with water, it can serve as a decent disinfectant and natural healing remedy for cuts and bruises

I used to have warts all over my elbows, and a few big nasty ones on my hand. After having no luck with other over the counter products and tricks, I read online somewhere about using apple cider vinegar on them.
So, for about a week, I would soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar, apply it to the area with warts (held on with a band aid or tape) and sleep with it.After about a week, they had turned completely black and fallen off, which sounds scary but they’re all completely gone! Have been for years, with no scars. If I get anymore warts I know what I’ll go straight to now.

If I have a bad case of the hiccups I drink some vinegar and they go away in about a minute. It tastes gross, but it works!

With that said, vinegar is also used to get rid of the eggs of headlice.

Oh my god be careful when drinking vinegar for a stomachache. If you have them regularly it might be a tear or an ulcer and vinegar will be terrible for that. I have an ulcer and even eating a salad with vinegar dressing burns like hell.

From what I’ve read, vinegar also helps cure yeast infections.
And yes, for sunburn it works wonders.

@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - I got a really bad sunburn once and nothing was helping, so I tried vinegar. It definitely didn’t hurt, but it didn’t feel like it helped at all either.

You know how at times the aire conditioning unit get clogged and then water starts dripping in ? What do you do next ? Call the repairman of course. He zaps the air unit with some air and unclogs it and then hits you with his bill. Well, if you want to save money and keep your air unit clean. Pour about a cup of vinegar in the side opening, where the repairman zaps it with air. Do that rergularly about once a month and your unit will stay as clean as a whistle and you won’t have to pay anyone for the service either

I really want to try Apple Cider Vinegar! I saw it on Rachel Ray today (: I didn’t even know there was such a thing!

I used organic apple cider vinegar for acne and sore throats–clears both up with rapid speed. Also, if I rinse my hair with it and let it settle for about a half hour before shampooing it out, it makes me hair super soft.

Apple Cider Vinegar, keeping my hair soft and dandruff free since summer 2010. My hair is so much nicer now that I use it (and occasional baking soda) instead of shampoo.

I used apple cider vinegar as a conditioner for my hair, and I drink it in a honey tea when I’m sick. I’m better within a couple days since it boosts your immune system. I add it to my parrots’ wet food mash as well. I use baking soda and vinegar to clean my whole house. I couldn’t stick with the apple cider vinegar regime to use it on my skin — the smell bothered me too much throughout the day.
