Just like every other girl in the world, I have my own beauty regimen. I’d heard about all kinds of different products and techniques, but there’s only one thing that seems to be common among all of them: the 3-step process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing.
Before Christmas, The Body Shop was having a wonderful sale so I decided to check it out. I ended up buying face wash, toner and moisturizer. I must say that it was one of my best decisions ever.
I felt like I was the only girl in the world with breakouts and shiny skin. (Don’t worry. I know I wasn’t alone.) But I decided to give the products a try, and I’m still using them halfway through February.
First, I rinse my face and then massage the face wash on my skin. Then, I rinse my face clean and dry it carefully with a soft towel.
Next, I shake the toner (it says to) and pour a dime sized amount onto a cotton ball. I rub that across my face and then let my skin dry.

Finally, I apply the face lotion to my skin. It feels and smells great!

If my skin is really bad, I put a little bit of this blemish gel on my problem spots.
I never used to do this 3-step process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing because I thought that it took way too long, was too expensive and was not worth the hassle. Boy, was I wrong.
What does your beauty regimen consist of? And what are your favorite products?

My face does not like that line (or TTO in general). It made my skin feel so much slimier and it looked way shinier. And was pretty tight. I remember I had to use it when I ran out of another cleanser and for 3 weeks my skin was just blagh.
My beauty regimen consists of standing in the shower in the evening. I’ve been water-only (whole body, only a handful of products still in use) since at least the summer of 2011, although for my body probably longer. And while my skin doesn’t look amazing, I no longer have acne. Just some mild to moderate marks and some shallow scarring. Which I’ll take over the 40+ zits I was experiencing previously on top of all the red marks and rashiness caused by picking!

The toner is barely tea tree oil and mostly alcohol…

I usually use Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser in the morning, (sometimes) followed by Neutrogena Fresh Face Alcohol-Free Toner, and then Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer for combination skin. At night if I’m not feeling too lazy, I use Neutrogena Naturals gel cleanser and Clean & Clear Night moisturizer. If I’m lazy, I just use a facial cleansing wipe. Once a week, I use an exfoliating scrub like St. Ives Apricot scrub or Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit. I’m kinda in the trying out stages of different products so this might not last, but my skin is naturally pretty clear.

I tried countless drug-store products and Proactiv… nothing worked for me. I started investing in mineral makeup and more expensive products. I also got the Clarasonic brush. My face is improving =)

I hate the Body Shop tea tree oil. It made my skin break out and get nasty for a long time. I don’t use any of their products anymore. Besides the Amorito perfume they discontinued.
@lovelyxbones_x3@xanga – I love the Neutrogena Grapefruti cleanser! That’s the only thing that’s worked for me ever. Also, their three part acne control gel stuff is pretty good as well

asprin! i wet 8 asprin pills and use it to wash my face at night. in the morning, i use an enzyme cleanser that’s in the form of powder. i’d add a couple drops of water and lather it all over my face.

I bought that line and unfortunately waisted my money.
I’m glad it worked for you, but it dried the heck out of my skin, and irritated it. I really wanted to like it. The only stuff from The Body Shop I love are their body butters and candles. Everything else I’ve tried has been bad or nothing amazing, unfortunately for me. :/
I use Dior face cleanser, I make my own coffee and sugar scrubs for face and body, Lancôme toner, day and night high resolution creams 3x, HR 3x eye cream, genefique, and I bought their new plant based corrective cream.
I love LUSH Breath of Fresh Air mineral mist as well when I’m on the go! LUSH Dark Angel charcoal wash is AMAZING
Best body moisturizer is palmers cocoa butter or real cocoa butter & almond oil.

right now, i’m using the classic Noxzema cleanser. for days i want more exfoliation, i use a glycolic cleanser from Mario Badescu. in the mornings, i put on an antioxidant cream and some eye gel, then some tinted moisturizer. in the evenings, i put on a serum designed for combination skin. whenever i feel the need for a toner, i just use witch hazel.

At night I use Carley’s Clear and Smooth (with is real natural and not fake natural) with my Clarisonic mia, rinse my face with distilled water since I have hard water, and then pat my night cream which is shea butter, mango butter, and other heavy vegetable oils/butter into my wet skin. Then I apply my eye cream which is mostly rose hip oil. In the morning I use just water or somethings honey and sugar since my face likes to be exfoliated a LOT (definitely more than the average face), then I use my day cream which is a lot like my night one but a ton, ton lighter, and I apply the same eye cream.
I minimize exposure to soap, even the happy natural fatty kind, because of hard water. Any time ANY kind of soap product comes in contact which my face I rinse with distilled water and a tiny, tiny splash of apple cider vinegar to rinse away the soap scum and rebuild the acid mantle on my face. I admit frequent exfoliation isn’t for everyone but my face loves that shit.

@ashleynicole - I agree. Tea Tree Oil turned my face into a slimy screaming, red mess.

I love The Body Shop! I mostly use the seaweed line of products, or mix it with the tea tree oil line — combination skin FTW.

I didn’t use Tree Tea Oil but I used a different line of Body Shop face cleansers. They also ruined my skin. My skin wasn’t that horrible to begin with but I had stopped using Proactiv and I was looking around for new options. I used the Vitamin E line for about 8 weeks and after 8 weeks I was getting those painful deep zits and I had broken out really bad on my cheeks. I felt just all around disgusting. It’s been over a year since I stopped and my skin STILL isn’t back to normal. I would NOT recommend Body Shop facial cleansers to anyone. Their almond hand cream, however, is lush.
At the moment I am using an olive oil soap for sensitive skin and an exfoliating cloth. I have various face creams from Beate Johnen- a German brand. My skin has improved but still isn’t where I want it- it has gotten much softer, though, which is nice.

I use the Cetaphil (for oily skin) cleanser with my clarisonic face brush every morning and night, do a baking soda mask twice a week, and use regular moisturizer before bed and in the morning (one w/ SPF for the morning). Nothing fancy.

@Murphy_Rants@xanga - Interestingly it’s fine elsewhere, just not my face! I do love the smell of it, I think that was the only thing I loved about the TTO line from TBS!

@pfirsich_n_sahne@xanga - Vitamin E is definitely a no-no for me. Anything with it and bam, bad skin! It’s a mild-moderate clogger AND irritant as listed on comedogenic websites!

I wash my face maybe twice a day with Clean and Clear (the kind with the clear bottle and orange insides) cleanser. I use ‘hope in a jar’ moisturizer after I get out of the shower. That’s it. I haven’t had acne in a really long time (fingers crossed -_-).

Ours is very similar, but before we apply the face wash, we gently exfoliate with a washcloth. Our skin is very dry, so it’s important to clear away the dead skin before anything else, or else the wash won’t get through to the places it needs to.

@IvyHatter@xanga - we?
i just use cetaphil (or generic versions of it) gentle cleanser. occasionally i use cetaphil facial moisturizer, which i’m trying to do more often. i have prescription acne medication (differin gel) and prescription anti-biotic pads that are particularly for my back and chest acne but can also work for my face when needed. for my body i just use cetaphil body lotion or, when my skin’s excessively dry, aquaphor healing ointment. that stuff is incredible for sunburn, dry skin, you name it. i swear they’re not paying me to say that, though it does sound like it

Baking soda scrub + Clean&Clear facewash
Cheap CVS Astringent
Oil Of Olay beauty liquid + a drop or two of Vitamin E oil
Also, the CVS mint facial masque is pretty nice, I use it once a week.

Cetaphil for normal skin face wash (daily)
baking soda + water for exfoliating (2 or 3 times per week)
Clinique moisturizerizing lotion
Eucerin sunscreen (I think it’s called everyday protection) with spf 30 (every morning).
I started exfoliating just a few weeks ago and it has made all the difference.
