So the audience was divided over the chic(?) and creepy animal skull jewelry posted last weekend, so here’s a trend for the fashion-forward girly-girls out there. I happen to love this because, just like the darker accessories, something so sweet as flower garland headbands can be used to play up a flirty outfit or starkly contrast an otherwise edgy look.
Fashion icons like Alexa Chung have helped to bring about this girlish innocence trend lately by mixing very sweet accessories with unexpected silhouettes and materials. While these hair accessories could be worn at a wedding, think how nicely they could add some feminine flair to an everyday outfit, with minimal effort.
ASOS Orchid Flower Headband, $14.32 from Asos
This ultra-girly garland, complete with pearl accents, is enough to satisfy any feminine sweet-tooth, and could easily be paired with a formal dress.
Silky Flower Elastic Headband, $5.50 from Charlotte Russe
Definitely more of a casual and wearable headband, the dark color makes it versatile enough to wear with a dress and leggings or a vintage tee and jeans.
Garden Grows Headband, $13.99 from ModCloth
Feeling flirty? I have to say I think this model was unprepared for rocking this headband, and it would look much better with her hair pulled back loosely. This is not a headband for the faint-of-heart in terms of pink, frilly, and well, big.
ASOS Carnation Flower Headband, $14.32 from Asos
Another garland you could easily throw on with jeans, the carnation flowers on this one reinforce its casualness. Don’t be afraid to make a statement even if you’re not dressing up.
Floral Garland Headwrap, $5.50 from Charlotte Russe
This is a garland more for the “love child” look, worn across the forehead, but I’m imagining a choppy pixie cut with this wrapped around. I get annoyed at headbands not having an action going on in the back because for long-haired girls it wouldn’t show, but a short crop allows style from all angles, and this would be a really great piece for that.
Flower garlands aren’t just for spring weddings and special occasions. Rocking them with your everyday makes just a loud enough statement, keeping your look fresh and easy for spring.
Would you accessorize with any of these?

I’d wear these for a wedding…or since my ears are pointy, I’d wear them to pretend I was an elf.
They are pretty but not my thing.

It’s way too cutesy for my style.

I love the carnations headband… I’d wear all of these (except for the big, pink one).

This is one of those “awesome in photos, stupid and ridiculous in real life” type of trends, sadly.

I would wear one with small flowers but I’d rather make it myself.

I really like the first two. Probably would look terrible on me though.
