The "Blue Valentine" star (and lucky gal who got to make out with Ryan Gosling) announced a career change at last night's Screen Actor's Guild awards.

Williams, who has a six-year old daughter with now-deceased Heath Ledger, said that "I just want to go back to being a mom for a while." She had previously stated that, ""Even when I’m working I still think about her and can’t wait to get back to her at the end of the day... Raising my daughter is my absolute priority. Everything I do is to make Matilda’s world as happy and secure as possible."

Michelle has an Oscar nomination for "My Week With Marilyn," and just finished filming her role as Glenda in "Oz: The Great and Powerful." [via Oh No They Didn't!]

It sounds like Williams is only taking a temporary break, which is great. While it's adorable that she wants to spend more time with her daughter, I'm selfishly looking forward to more "Blue Valentine"-caliber performances.

What do you think of Michelle Williams? What about her decision to step out of the acting game?
