The “Blue Valentine” star (and lucky gal who got to make out with Ryan Gosling) announced a career change at last night’s Screen Actor’s Guild awards.
Williams, who has a six-year old daughter with now-deceased Heath Ledger, said that “I just want to go back to being a mom for a while.” She had previously stated that, “”Even when I’m working I still think about her and can’t wait to get back to her at the end of the day… Raising my daughter is my absolute priority. Everything I do is to make Matilda’s world as happy and secure as possible.”
Michelle has an Oscar nomination for “My Week With Marilyn,” and just finished filming her role as Glenda in “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” [via Oh No They Didn't!]
It sounds like Williams is only taking a temporary break, which is great. While it’s adorable that she wants to spend more time with her daughter, I’m selfishly looking forward to more “Blue Valentine”-caliber performances.
What do you think of Michelle Williams? What about her decision to step out of the acting game?

I have always loved Michelle Williams. I remember her in the days of Dawson’s Creek. LOL. One of the first times I really saw much of her. I didn’t get a chance to watch a lot of movies and TV when I was younger, and when I finally did, she was one of the first I really enjoyed. I also REALLY miss Heath Ledger. He was a favorite. I was really bummed when he passed.

I don’t see why Michelle Williams is calling off acting for awhile. Eventually she wont be able to act anymore. She might as well keep going with it while she’s young, she has time to rest when she’s older.

I’ve always liked her. I think it’s a great step for a mother daughter relationship :)

….I thought she quit acting like 8 years ago?

With all the press she does for movies, she must be away from home a lot.
I think it’s great she wants to be present for her daughter.

Good reason, but I will miss her

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything she’s in, except for a couple of Dawson’s Creek episodes.
