LUSH, notorious as ambassadors for Momma Earth, say toothpaste tubes only create more waste. And instead of just whining, the beauty company introduces a solution: Toothy Tabs. Find out how these mint-looking nuggets cleanse those pearly whites of yours.
All it takes to go paste-less in your oral hygiene routine, according to LUSH, is chomping up a tab like the one above and then taking a wet toothbrush to your mouth, finishing the job as normal. Easy peasy!
The solid toothpaste comes in six flavors including a classic mint and not-so-classic choices involving wasabi, black pepper and grapefruit. Hmm! [via Racked]
A resounding praise in the customer review section proclaims the tabs ideal for travel. I can see it.
One satisfied consumer says of Toothy Tabs:
I have always hated brushing my teeth (but you HAVE to) because the toothpaste flavours are always offensively minty, or overtly cinnamon…but the Toothy Tabs aren’t harsh, and leave your mouth feeling super clean. Plus, they have bubbles. I like bubbles.
You hear that? Bubbles! I, too, like bubbles. Do you?
Would you try a solid toothpaste like this? What do you think about the funky flavors?

I had one while I was in Edinburgh over the summer. So incredibly nasty. I had to take one of the Lush newsletters and spit it out into it. Almost puked.
Seriously.

I’m all about this if they dont taste awful. I am digging it.

That customer’s review sounds legit…

I agree with @Phoeeenix@xanga that the flavour is terrible. The one nice thing about them is that if you’ve bitten the inside of your lip (as I do frequently, unfortunately), the toothy tab foam doesn’t sting like conventional toothpaste.

Um…isn’t packaging it in a box still a waste just like packing it into a tube? Just sayin’…

@anonimousewun@xanga - You have a very good point. My toothpaste tube lasts me more than 40 brushes.

It tastes like baking soda, which is (i think) the basis of its composition. I have “Atomic” and while I cannot say that the taste is unpleasant, there’s certainly a lot of room for improvement.
guest
That sounds brilliant!
@anonimousewun@xanga - Yes, but cardboard is easier to recycle.
