Although with weather like this doesn’t exactly entice one to hang outside for long, sometimes directions must be found, a text sent or an Instagram posted. Here’s five options on how you can do just that without exposing your lovely little fingers to the harsh winter winds. See our finds after the jump!
Isotoner Women’s Hybrid Spandex/Fleece Glove,Camel,One Size, $32.00 from Amazon
I have a pair kind of like this. The design offers high digit mobility and warmth (which is kinda the point, right?). These are good for those in especially frigid climates or who are especially cold weather wusses (guilty). Available in charcoal, a beautiful plum color, fierce red and white!
SwypeGloves Brown Texting Gloves – ‘Grand Canyon’ Touchscreen Gloves, from Amazon
Australian wool makes up this toasty option. But fear not overheating — the company uses a herringbone knit so it remains believable. We love the two-tone aspect of these! You can flip down the wrist for a dash of bold magenta. Also, they are unisex, hence the rather furry model arm above.
Heat Factory Women’s Fold-Back Ragg Wool Gloves for use with Heat Factory Hand Warmers, $21.95 from Amazon
These might not be ideal for winter outdoor texting (or iPad diddling) at great length, but they’re a great design for quick bare-finger access. And when you’re done using those digits, you can flip the mittens shut and absorb the lovely warmth of the hand warmers in their special pocket! Ooh.
Extra Long Cozy Texting Gloves by Twitten (Charcoal), from Amazon
This can provide a light, extra layer of protection all up your arm while still allowing you texting capabilities! Probably more ideal for slightly warmer regions.
Isotoner Women’s SmarTouch Touch Screen Compatible Glove, Black, Medium/Large, $24.95 from Amazon
And now for the most serious of the serious touch-screen friendly gloves… these come hardcore insulated, with grip-reinforced palms and, according to Isotoner: “Conductive thread on index fingers and thumbs conveys electrical impulse to the touchscreen.” Hi-tech!
Do you already own a pair of gloves like these? Would you wear any of the above styles?

Haha so I’m not the only one who noticed I can’t unlock my ipod when I have gloves on… clever.

I have a pair of the last gloves, and they do not work that great. You have to repeat actions over and over and use a lot of force to get anything done. Much easier to just take the glove off.

Oh my, I was just wishing this morning that there were gloves like this. It’s freezing cold out (duh, it’s winter, though it hasn’t really snowed at all up until now) and I was on my way to breakfast with some friends and I put on two pairs of gloves (along with two pairs of everything comfy) and while dashing out the door I thought, “I hope no alarms go off or text messages/calls come through because I can’t use my phone for the next ten minutes while I have these gloves on!”

I have found that leather gloves work, as well.

I got mine for $12 on amazon from a company called AG gloves and they rock.

I got a pair from my work (American Eagle) for 7 dollars. totally worth it!

I JUST got the last pair (the Isotoners) on sale at Sears for 20 bucks. A little steep for my budget but I’m more afraid of the cold.

I have gloves that are part gloves part mittens. Meaning that I can put up a flap to make the gloves into mittens whenever I want to. They’re purple AND Calvin Kleins. The best part: Not only are they my favorite color but I got them on clearance for less than $10 at an outlet nearby. I find that I really don’t use my thumb anyways (at least, I try not to so I don’t scratch up the face of my phone) and I got my iPhone excatly two weeks ago. I mainly use my index fingers. For what I got, I don’t think I could do much better, even if I tried! And I’m not going to ditch my favorite gloves just because they’re not “tech savvy” enough.

I have a blue and white striped pair that I got for Christmas and they work great.
It’s nice to be able to change my music in my car AND have warm hands on those cold steering wheel days.

I have a pair that have little metal dots or something on the first fingers and thumbs that let you type on the screen without any issues.

Touchscreen gloves are just a major disappointment to me, because I asked for a really inexpensive touchscreen phone for my birthday or Christmas, and my parents gave me touchscreen gloves for my birthday.. but no phone. And I later found out my mom had no clue they were touchscreen gloves.. womp XD

@beca - haha totally. some of these may look a little strange (but maybe less so in person? not sure)

Then you come to San Jose and it’s 75 degrees Fahrenheit. LOL

I have the last pair and they suck because the fingers on the gloves are longer than any normal human beings fingers so it doesn’t work properly.
I’ll just stick to my flip top mittens and live without the thumbs.

@enoughtodiefor@xanga - it works lol

I just wore my 2.99 CVS pharmacy gloves down to the point where they work with touch screen devices.

haha my mom got me a pair of the last ones for christmas, because we thought we were going to buy iphones and then we didn’t… but i guess I can use the gloves for an ipod touch, and they are warm!
