In a move that is completely contradictory to the tried-and-true Jersey Shore cast member theme of contributing little to nothing technically and vitally important to our society (besides Xanadrine and pistachio commercials), our boy Vinny, in light of his mental health inspired exit during last week’s episode, has created and launched a website aimed at supporting those who suffer from anxiety and depression.

The site, HalfOfUs, gives tips on how to ease symptoms, pinpoint causes of anxiety and how to get you or someone else help. Featured on the front page is an interview with the man himself (I don’t mean to sound callus here, but what’s going on with the faux-hawk/conehead, dude?), where he describes his battle with panic attacks and what made him decide to tell season five and Seaside Heights “sayonara.”  [via AlterNet]

It’s nice seeing one of the cast member speaking sincerely and intelligently about an important issue, and really taking the initiative to help others as well.

Good job, Vin. We’re impressed.

What did you Lovelies think of Vinny leaving the show?
