As the 2012 political race begins to heat up, GOP candidates are diving head first into the presidential primaries that will determine their standing against President Obama on November 6. Rick Santorum is your true, far right wing conservative. But before any Republicans get up in arms when I say this, know that I am not generalizing, but simply inferring on a personal level, that Rick Santorum hates the absolute sh*t out of gay people… Which brings me to my next point about columnist and gay rights activist, Dan Savage, who redefined Rick’s last name back in 2003 to mean something explicitly different, and boy did it catch on.

In 2003, Rick Santorum was quoted in the Associated Press relating homosexuality and the act of gay sex to bestiality among other disturbing comparisons. He also stated that,

If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does. It all comes from, I would argue, this right to privacy that doesn’t exist in my opinion in the United States Constitution. In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.

Going beyond his bigotry, we are also presented with the suggestion that people do not have a right to their own privacy, especially when it comes to gay sex. In America according to Rick Santorum, we as Americans are not allowed to love who we choose, and the fourth amendment of the constitution no longer applies to its citizens — if Santorum has anything to do with it.

Well, the outspoken writer of the incredibly popular sex/love advice column, Savage Love, did not take kindly to Rick Santorum’s stance on not only gay rights but civil rights in general, and retaliated with one word. One that used to belonged to Rick and his political image, that is until Dan Savage redefined it. ”Santorum,” started a movement, one that began with the readers vote, opening up a forum of suggestions for a new slang term that would suit Rick a little better. What Dan settled on was this: a frothy mixture of…

The new definition of Santorum’s name actually managed to eclipse the former Pennsylvania Senator’s own campaign site, and now, that frothy mixture of… well you know, is trying to reclaim his name on Google, which has ultimately been a losing battle since the popularity of the new Santorum has become a viral sensation.

On this website you can actually make your own Santorum shot and drink recipes (yes they’re intended to look revolting). Not to mention a number of Facebook pages that support the new definition and are even requesting that it be recognized by the OED. Now that Santorum is a potential contender for the 2012 presidency, Dan has a new threat for Rick, literally…
