I read a post on Lauren Conrad’s website last week about how she joined forces with BlueAvocado and their mission to make 2012 a greener year, and there were so many great ideas for small ways to make a big difference in our environment this year. Check out some of the company’s cool ideas and products after the jump!
BlueAvocado offers “cool products for a hot planet” and unlike some other reusable products, they are inexpensive and I wouldn’t mind carrying these around at all. I would definitely recommend checking out the full collection of products on BA’s website, but in the meantime here are some of my personal favs:
(re)Zip lunch, $4.75 from BlueAvocado
These reusable lunch bags are perfect for someone who brings their lunch to school or work on a regular basis and are a great substitute for the usual plastic bags. The collection includes small sizes available for your snacks, and larger sizes for storage too! Think about it, even if you bring a sandwich and just one snack everyday, you waste 10 bags per work week.
gro Multi Purpose Reusable Bag, $8.99 from BlueAvocado
There are many reusable shopping bags you can chose from, but few are this cute! The multi-use bag holds up to 25 pounds and replaces three plastic bags per shopping trip. Bonus: this bag is half off right now!
java sleeve, $2.99 from BlueAvocado
Lauren featured this one on her personal website and is my favorite! I have never seen a reusable coffee sleeve, but I rarely buy a coffee without one. The benefit of this coffee sleeve over the cardboard ones, besides saving the planet and all, is that you can use it on cold beverages too! And at three bucks, who can beat it?!
How will you being going green this year?

Why not just consume less?

I agree – there’s a reason it’s “reduce, reuse, recycle” in that order!
Another tip is to bring your own tupperware / container to restaurants in case you have leftovers. It saves on disposable one time use take-out containers that are often styrafoam (bad!). Also, not just bringing a reusable coffee cup sleeve, but a reusable coffee mug!
