I have a lot of bras that are in great condition, but I’ve gone up a cup size and a band size in the past year! Idk if that was because I just never had bras that fit, but anyway… I’m buying all new ones.Is it acceptable to give them to a Salvation Army/ Goodwill store, or is that just gross?
I don’t know anyone with 32/34 A who is close enough to me (friend, family, or otherwise). I feel like it’s such a waste (hundreds of dollars)!
Donate them, girl! Thrift stores like Salvation Army and Goodwill do sell bras. These are expensive items and if they’re still in good condition, they will sell almost immediately. It’s definitely not gross! There are lots of girls and women who actually can’t afford bras — so it will really make their day to be able to find a good condition, nice bra at a thrift store. When in doubt, always donate, even if you think they might not be able to use it… it’s better than putting it immediately into a landfill!
Lovelies, do you donate your old bras?
Do you need advice on something? What’s making your head spin? Relationships? Shoes? Waterproof mascara? Hit us up.

I usually save them. What if you have another weight fluctuation? Then you’ll have backup bras. I have bras in a couple different cup sizes.

I wear mine until they start falling apart.

My question is, why did she go up a back size…? lol

I just need to ask, why is buying a used bra gross? I’ve never done it, but I mean, the only potential grossness would be that the woman could have gotten sweaty while wearing it, but that would also happen with tops and other clothes. I get not buying used underwear, but I dunno, I don’t see a big deal with used bras. If I needed to buy used I probably would, especially if I wanted to try out a vintage-style bra.
All of old bras are just lying around. I don’t think any of my bras have ever fit either. I’m going to wait until the summer though before getting fitted to see whether I lose weight and bulk up from now until then.

I save some of mine in various sizes for just in case, or were too pretty to get rid of, but after a while, if they didn’t fit any more I’d have no problem donating them (only the good ones). The old ratty ones I’d throw away.

Once a year, Change (lingerie store) would collect used/old bras for breast cancer awareness. I don’t know what they do with the bras though. I just save the old bras and donate it to the store when they’re collecting it.

I’m not sure. I’ve been the same size since my second year of high school. I just wear my bras to the point of destruction.

I donate them. I started doing so when I was volunteering at a shelter when I was in college. One of the nuns overheard me talking about not knowing what to do with a bunch of old bras that I had and she told me to please donate them because people often forget that women in shelters need undergarments. As long as they are in good condition, there is no need to not donate them.

@MethodOfMyMadness@xanga - I do too. Generally by the time an underwire has wriggled free and is poking a titty, I figure it’s ready for retirement.

I’ve worked at a Goodwill and I sorted the clothes. They do accept them but I threw a majority of them away. If they looked fairly used they were not considered store acceptable. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t donate them anyway. Even if they are thrown out they were recycled in some way.

@ZombieMom_Speaks@xanga - lmao

Why wouldn’t you give it to the goodwill shop? there are always people who can use a new one but can’t afford one ..

Then I should feel bad (I guess?) I usually throw mine out but a lot of the time, they are really worn out so that makes them no use to anyone.

Put a listing on craigslist, and see if anyone needs them for an art project. (I’m in San Francisco, and I’ve had friends asking for used bras for an art project!) Otherwise, you could donate it, or you can keep a few for some day. I saved my older bras, as they’re smaller cups, and I hope to lose weight some day, and fit back into them.

I usually work my bras to the bone, so they are nearly completely useless by the time I’m done with them :/
guest
I give them to my little sister, lol

@MommyMarty22@xanga - Gained weight? I lost 25 lbs and went down a band size. It’s really not that hard to figure out…
guest
@thisisnotaboutyou@xanga - I was just wondering because often time’s when the bra size is off it’s the cup size goes up and back size goes down… Not necessarily because of weight fluctuation but because of the way America’s size measuring system is so off…
I wasn’t trying to be a smart ass…
It was a real question.

@MommyMarty22@xanga -
Weight can be gained in the back, sides and so can muscle.
For my body, I know it’s time to hit the gym when I go up a band size, that is always the last place I gain weight and the first place I lose it.

As for my bras if they are in good condition I’ll offer them to my friends first and if they don’t fit or aren’t interested they go into the donation pile.
But on average I wear my bras TO DEATH.

@lizpimphat@xanga -
I am totally wearing one of those worked to death almost useless bras and I refuse to give it up, it’s my favorite lol
guest
If they are in good shape, I wash ‘em up and donate them! Most of the time though I wear them until they are dead! LoL
guest
Like I said on someone’s pulse, use them as blindfolds during sex! Duh!

i just donated my super old ones that have been sitting in the back of my dresser since high school. they’re in good shape, i hope someone uses them and appreciates them lol
