Many argue that a hard routine can stun productivity and creativity. I personally enjoy my a.m. cuppa joe and reading sesh on the train ride into the city. But I do see a point in the former sentiment. Do you think routine promotes calm or makes life stagnant?
Each morning contains a need to get a few things done — no matter what. I certainly hope all you Lovelies get your teethbrushin’ in before work or school, at least! But what about a little yoga? Reading The Times? Staring contest with your cat? What helps bring you to center before you start your day?
Does the structure help or hurt your daily life? If you have a morning routine, what does it entail? If you don’t, why not?

I’d be one lost panda without routine.
Wake up, potty, turn computer on, go get dressed, go back to computer and check comics/websites/email, go do hair/makeup, feed/water cats, scoop litter pans, wash hands, make breakfast, make lunch for myself/bf, head on off to work.
During the weekends though, all bets are off.

Honestly… having a morning routine makes me feel GREAT. I feel like I get so much done during the day and I’m less stressed… and I always get everything (or almost everything) done that I want do.
They may not be for everyone… but I’m a fan.

well, depends on the day. most of the time, I wake up, get ready, and get dressed, the end. other days, I just wake up, get ready and don’t dress until much later

Wake up, shower, get dressed, turn on hair curler & straightener, put on moisturizer and part my bangs, straighten/curl bangs, go to work+school. Usually there’s like 10 minutes of checking my laptop interspersed in there.

My routine consists of wake up 20 minutes before I have to be somewhere and go.

It depends. If I’m working an early shift, my routine is get up, turn on computer, pee, make breakfast, get online/eat breakfast/get dressed, then go do my hair, make-up and brush my teeth, then go. However, if I work the late shift (which means not leaving home until gone 3pm) – all routines go out of the window and I just do whatever I want.

My days are so spastic that a routine is pretty much impossible since I do something different at a different time every day. Still, there are certain things that I absolutely have to do before I leave the house. And… well, really it’s just brushing my teeth, I guess. I have to brush my teeth before I leave the house or I, like, die. However, I also prefer to have put on some makeup and kind of fixed my hair before leaving.
If I had time, I’d probably have a nice cup of tea or coffee in the mornings while catching up on the news and my blogs. But I don’t get up in time for that. Maybe that’s something I should work on. It’d probably improve my mood.

The only morning routine I have is when I’m getting off from work. I work 24 hour shifts two days a week so it’s a relatively regular thing and mostly revolves around making sure I don’t lose essentials for work and have everything ready for the gym.

I kind of have a weird morning routine. I’ll get up early and shower, then go downstairs and have a cup of coffee and eat breakfast while watching the news and checking my email, Facebook, etc. After that I’ll go back upstairs and dry my hair, do my makeup, brush my teeth, and get dressed and the get ready to go where I need to go.
I like to let my hair dry a little on it’s own before I take my hairdryer to it, hence the break in between getting out of the shower and actually spending time to dry it. It makes it a lot easier and I don’t have to use as much heat.

Yea, I need to revamp though, I lost the ability to do my morning routine when I went off to college & haven’t recreated a new one.

I MUST follow my routine, or else I just miss stuff.
Wake up > Brush > Wash face with towel > Pick outfit > Shower > Wash face again with cleanser > Clothes on > Depuff my eyes and face with hot-warm water, then cold, then even more cold, then most cold water > Dry my hair > Spray on hair > Makeup > Put on rest of the outfit > Breakfast (optional)

Last year I had a serious routine. Wake up, use the bathroom, put my coffee on, shower, get dressed, drink coffee/eat breakfast, check Facebook and Xanga, go to class. On exam days, I would wake up earlier, use the bathroom/shower, gather up my stuff, and walk over to the campus coffee shop and get a latte and parfait. Then I’d camp out at a table and study until class. This year I live off campus and I don’t necessarily have a set routine depending on who is and isn’t in the house when I wake up. Sometimes I miss my routine, but other times I don’t mind changing it up day to day. It isn’t like there is a huge difference, other than having to eat breakfast before showering b/c my roommate is taking a shower when I get up or deciding to eat in my room so that my grumpy, sleep-deprived roommate can study in the kitchen. I don’t mind either way.

Dress, brush teeth, skin care, makeup, drink green smoothie on the way to work. Easy peasy.
