Wait, did I imply that was a bad thing? I know I’m not alone, since our own Nicole just confessed to being equally as addicted to the Lifetime original series, Dance Moms as I am. It looks like our wait is nearly over as we creep closer to the premiere of the ridiculous reality show’s second season.

You might recall my recap on the first season‘s shenanigans, and this season appears to be pulling no punches. If you’re not hip to the habit-forming series, it features a slew of brilliant young dancers, their first-world-problem-having mothers, and their over-the-top tactless brute of a coach, Abby Lee Miller. She has, apparently, fostered the careers of many a dance star, so the stakes are high to keep her happy, but it’s no small task as she’s quite a bear to work with. The plot line is loose, and according to reader responses to my earlier post, the characters are not just exaggerated but entirely invented from thin air. It’s been said by a commenter that Abby’s behavior is a complete act, but one I’m admittedly not tiring of anytime soon. The mothers are at once fastidious and reckless, caring for the group as long as the daughter in question is in the spotlight. I’m interested to see what the story arc will present this season, as the last featured an unlikely triumph from the number-two dancer Chloe who was awarded the opportunity to star in a cavity-inducing pop music video, and when there are no rules governing how true-to-life the stories are, the sky really is the limit.

I encourage you to kill some time catching up on the previous season if you haven’t seen it, but I’ll definitely be prepped and ready for the show’s season premiere at 9/8 p.m. central on Tuesday, Jan. 10 on Lifetime.
