Toronto rapper Drake, formerly Degrassi‘s Wheelchair Jimmy and real-life Aubrey Graham, may have mused the lyrics “tat my name on you girl so I know it’s real,” but even he didn’t expect a fan to go this far. Californian Kara-Lise Coverdale wanted to prove her love to Drake the way no one else would — a permanent tribute. Why Coverdale chose to ink her forehead instead of another body part, is beyond me, Drake and even tattoo artist Kevin Campbell. In fact, Campbell didn’t know who Drake was. He told VICE, “I figured it was her hood or some sh*t, not some goofnugget R&B dude.” But that didn’t stop him from putting pen to skin.
She was really psyched about it. She had the sh*tty font all picked out on her iPhone ready to go and was pretty adamant about putting it on her forehead — She acted as if she had planned it out for a while, but I’m not really sure how much extended coherent thought could actually go into getting such a stupid tattoo on your forehead.
Coverdale isn’t the first to brand herself with a tribute to a celebrity. (Did you see our post about the self-professed Ashton Kutcher number one fan? Wow.) Check out the gallery below of other crazy ink tributes to celebrities.
Do you think the tattoo artist had a responsibility to stop her? Would you ever get a tattoo to show your love of a celebrity? Which of these tattoos is your favorite?

…Goofnugget? Who says goofnugget? What exactly is a goofnugget? Should I start incorporating it into my vocabulary?

I… have to confess that I have a celebrity tribute tattoo but not to the caliber of someone’s face on my body. My tattoo is the first three words to the chorus for “Check Yes Juliet” by We The Kings. The lead singer had some converse shoes made for him with the words “run baby run” stitched on to the back side part of the shoe and I loved his idea. But I’m not a huge fan of Converse, nor did I want to pay over 70 dollars for shoes I’d hardly wear. So I tattooed the words “run baby run” in the same spot he had it on the shoes and it was cheaper. It’s one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands and I love it.

@looloo11268@xanga - I want to do this with lyrics from Sleeping At Last off of the Yearbook collection, but there are too many songs that I love and would want lyric tattoos of. There are a few that I’d definitely for sure want over others, but even those I cannot choose lyrics within the song as I’d want the whole damn song! GAH.

STUPID. She should have gotten that tat on her forhead instead

@looloo11268@xanga - i love that tattoo idea! i’d love to see a photo, actually. i think lyrics can be extremely meaningful and are way more relevant to people’s lives than the actual singer/celebrity. i love how proud you sound about your ink!

It’s awful, but it’s her body.

It’s an ugly tat but it’s what she wanted… It’s on her, not the artist.

Another fucking moron that my tax dollars are probably going to.

The only time a tattoo artist should refuse is if the person is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Now if it’s a tattoo that makes them uncomfortable they can refuse but it’s personal preference.

…Good luck getting a decent job…

LOL… That is all I can say… Plus, its Drake, and Drakes shitty..
@EllieMak - Yep, she will never find a job… I remember someone telling me that about my tattoo… Which is on my lower back (and isn’t something super crazy..).. I dont get why someone would say that seeing as I can EASILY hid it… lol… BUt forehead…

Uh, wow…dear God. While I do think that’s a dumb tattoo, the tattoo artist was out of line to be such a dick after the fact. He could have just refused to do it, but he chose to make her a customer and that’s not how you should treat customers. Shit-talking them later on is not cool. I wouldn’t go to an artist with that kind of attitude, he sounds like a jerk.

I agree with Shinbii. The only responsibility of an artist is to make sure the person isn’t drunk or under the influence of drugs. They can also refuse to do any tattoo that they want to do but it shouldn’t be because the person may regret it. They aren’t responsible for making personal decisions for other people.
Some of these artists are amazing, but I wouldn’t want anyone’s face inked on my body. My favorite, not necessarily for the artistry, is Brittney. It makes you go WTF?

No, I would not get a tattoo of my favorite celeb. That’s just crazy.

My question is WHYYYYYY??? I agree with others, #1 why drake? and #2 why on your forehead?! She’ll regret that in 5 years when Drake is just a bad memory in the music scene….

That wasn’t a good idea. I wonder what she’s going to look like when she’s old.

Maybe a mandatory psychiatric evaluation before getting a tattoo isn’t such a bad idea…but it is her cranium, after all. I hope there are more efficient, less painful tattoo-removal procedures in her future.
That Jack Black tat is just lovely, though.
Goofnugget?

She’s a fucking idiot. Honestly, I don’t blame him, cause he’s just making his money. SHE’S the fucking idiot to me, not him. But that’s just me.

Coming soon: “No job, no marriage, no life, nothing – but a painful tattoo removal proceure lies ‘a head’”.

She is an idiot. Anyone who gets a tattoo on or around their face is just asking to not be taken seriously.

Wow, no.
@looloo11268@xanga - I love that!

What morons.

She’ll hate it later in life but its her head

That’s brutal…. why the forehead?? WHY?
