Who doesn’t love a lady that reads? In today’s decidedly more serene Tumblr Thursday, we take a look at women — famous, anonymous, photographed or painted — as they take in a good book. Simply on the nose with its name, Women Reading is a space on the Internet to bask in the glory of women and the written word. Check out more samples after the cut!
Reading is one of my favorite activities (can you tell?) and I enjoy coming across these photos, just as I enjoy checking out the books people are reading on the subway. Maybe one day I’ll submit a photo of myself reading.

I wonder how many of those women were actually reading the book, as opposed to merely posing with it.
It’s not that I’m saying women don’t read–I enjoy reading and I know plenty of female bookworms. It’s just ironic how there are many girls on Xanga who claim to love reading but have horrible spelling and grammar. The avid readers that I knew had a good grasp of the language.

I can think of one better: attractive men actively reading (by that I mean guys in the act of marking up their books). Very swoon-worthy.
