Each year millions of viewers tune in to watch some of the sexiest women on earth strut down the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’s runway donning their infamous sets of wings. Whether you’re watching in awe of beauties like Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, or simultaneously watching and devouring a tub of ice-cream, happy at the fact that you’re able to eat it — the night proves to be pretty entertaining. I have to admit I watch for both reasons. Add in the fact that there usually are some killer performances, this show tends to have it all. Thankfully, this year’s installment didn’t disappoint and we’ve got some of our favorite moments after the jump.
1. The fashion. It is called the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after all and this year what they were wearing — or weren’t — didn’t disappoint. Per usual, Victoria‘s angels rocked everything from super tight corsets to neon wings. An extremely entertaining part of the show was when the line’s PINK collection was showcased while Nicki Minaj performed her single “Super Bass.” With crazy designs, bright colors and even mini stuffed animals, Nicki’s own personal style looked right at home up their on the runway. Remind me again, which outfit is by PINK?
2. Love was in the air. I mean seriously, the amount of ridiculously good-looking couples in attendance was just insane. First, you had Maroon Five singer Adam Levine walk his very own super sexy angel down the runway hand-in-hand. As if that wasn’t cute enough, while she is being all fierce and striking poses, he ran up and planted a kiss on her cheek! For those not given the chance to be on stage with each other, looking at each other adoringly and full of pride worked too. Watching Beyoncé and her baby bump bumping along to hubby Jay-Z’s performance and Orlando Bloom smiling until his cheeks hurt at wifey Miranda Kerr–the love was all around.
3.That bra cost how much?! Per usual, one of the angels got the privilege of wearing a bra that costs more than a four year education in some places. This year’s “Fantasy Bra” was worn by new mother Miranda Kerr. Not only does the woman have a killer post-baby bod, but she gets to literally top it off with a bra racking in a total of $2.5 million. Miranda described it as being “… magical. Felt like a million dollars. Or $2.5 million!” [via US Weekly] Making this one of the few times that expression will ever be taken literally.
4. Girl power. At the risk of sounding too Spice Girls for you and whether you agree with the show’s premise or not, these girls are some pretty fierce women. They are called “supermodels” for a reason — and fittingly enough, rocked some killer super hero outfits during this years show. Strutting down the runway while Kanye performed “Stronger,” these women owned the stage and oozed confidence — and maybe a little sex appeal too, just a little.
5. It got the people going. The queens of the runway strutted their stuff, so it seemed appropriate that two of the kings of rap did the same. Straight off Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne album, the “Ni**as in Paris” rappers brought the house to its feet and the fans’ “diamonds” to the air during their performance. The hip-hop anthem was performed sans-angels leaving just the two superstars to own the stage, which they did. The performance was complete thanks to shots of the audience rapping along, and the angels dancing back stage making good on the songs promise to get the people going.
What did you guys think of the show? What were your favorite parts? How did it measure up to past years?

Nicki Minaj’s Neon Party was the best too!

I liked how Adriana Lima and Miranda Kerr gave everyone unrealistic hopes about how to look after having a baby.

The gorgeous men doing even more gorgeous flares during Bad Romance.

Adriana and Miranda are good examples of how to stop eating like you are pregnant after child birth.
Adam was the only decent performance. I am livid that they got Kanye and Nicki, their music sucks. Sorry, I know most you here are fangirls for her but she annoys the daylights out of me. JayZ is ok.

LOL @ “more than a 4-year education in some places”. Hopefully in all places! I definitely like VS, but I don’t care for rap/hip hop.

As far as the models having great post baby bodies, they take care of their bodies. The took care of them before, during, and after their pregnancies. Granted, genetics helps but if you don’t “eat for 2″ when you are pregnant, continue to do so after your child is born, and you are in your prime childbearing years (like these models) it shouldn’t be that hard.
I don’t plan on watching the show at all (as in ever). VS has pretty bras, but not in my size. Most of the stuff in their catalog is aimed at women 10 years younger than I am, so I just don’t get excited by anything by them anymore. Moreover, their quality has gone down since I used to shop there, but their prices have stayed the same, so even if I could, wear their bras I’d chose another lingerie company.

I LOL’d at “it got the people going”

@Love_never_fails - She probably worked ridiculously hard to do that, though. Her body is what earns her income. Most new moms do not have the personal trainers, let alone the time, to commit that much to losing the baby weight. If other people see her and get their hopes up, that’s their problem. We need to stop being catty bitches about it. Miranda looks hot. Enough said.

The girl who auditioned to walk in the show–she said she was an “American Girl”–was way too thin. It looked like her hips were narrower than her waist… I mean, if that’s her body, whatever. She was pretty. But, seriously, VS, do you really need to find the thinnest girls possible?
@blackspiders@xanga - Just because she “worked ridiculously hard” doesn’t mean her post-baby body is realistic. Hardly any new moms will look like that. In fact, that’s the reason it is unrealistic. A very small minority of new moms have the time or energy to devote all their time to their own body. Nothing against Miranda; she is really pretty… her body just isn’t feasibly attainable for most people. Everyone’s born differently and all that.
Also, I would be tempted to disagree with the “If other people see her and get their hopes up, that’s their problem.” Society has conditioned women to believe they must be “perfect”–and the definition of “perfect” to our society are the VS models. Being “perfect” is unrealistic in itself. So it’s moreso society’s problem if women get their hopes up. We’re conditioned that way.

They ooze confidence because they look perfect.
Sigh.

the thing that got me was that those girls said that this was the “american dream” and that “every girl dreams of being an angel”
which isn’t true. by any stretch. I don’t want to look that skinny, one girls chest plate was protruding. that can’t be healthy.
I do like that this show isn’t all boredrunwaymodel-y, they had fun and they looked like they enjoyed themselves.

@Rose_Hikari@xanga - How is peoples’ jealousy of her ridiculously good looking post baby body Miranda’s problem? If you want to lose weight, post-baby or not, you need to develop healthy eating habits and commit to daily exercise. It’s not an unrealistic goal to get back into shape after a having a baby. In fact, it’s quite realistic. You won’t come out looking like Miranda, but you can get back into shape.

@blackspiders@xanga - I wasn’t being catty. They said during the show that Adriana Lima does boxing. I was just meant I want to look like that after I have a baby.

I didn’t watch the show, and probably won’t because I don’t support the message that the industry gives. It seems that there are quite a few others here (all the ones talking about how these women aren’t healthy, etc.) don’t seem to support the image/message being given through VS, either. If you don’t agree with it, don’t support it. Nothing is attained by sitting in front of your laptop or TV watching these women (many of whom do NOT achieve those bodies through healthy means) with ice cream or whatever lamenting over how your body isn’t like theirs.
Being an angel is not the American dream. Just because you don’t weigh in at 100 lbs and aren’t 5’11″ should not make you feel any less beautiful. Some women really can’t go back to their old bodies after giving birth, despite being active and taking all the right measures. Those women shouldn’t be made to feel less attractive just because they weren’t born with the genes/body structure to allow their bodies to bounce back like that.

@carpeD_M@twitter - where did I say I was stressing about it? And also, learn to use punctuation. My brain hurt after reading what you wrote. It was a joke. Chill the fuck out.

the kissing was so cute! and i loved what they wore in that part of the show, too. such gorgeous unrealistically thin women!

I loved the show this year! One of my favorites!

I was disappointed that they showed very little of Chanel Iman. She is my favorite VS Angel… at only 19 she was both a VS Angel and an entrepreneur with her own *successful* handbag company. Idk, I just think she is someone to look up to. And she’s freaking gorgeous. But other than lacking many opportunities for me to hero-worship, I thought this year’s show was great.
