Sequins have been amping up the glam in almost everything fashion-related from clutches to sweaters to shoes and just in time for the holiday season and New Years. Sequins are bright but can easily be overdone, so here are ways you can rock sequins without blinding everyone!
Black Sequin Clutch, $44.00 from White House
1. Clutch. Carrying a sequined clutch is a subtle way of adding some sparkle to your outfit without over doing it. Since it’s an accessory it will be just the right touch of glamor for a night out. You can also match it with some sparkly heels or jewelry pieces like a large ring or dangle earrings.
2 Lips Too Too Haughty Pump – Bronze, $39.95 from DSW
2. Heels. Shoes can make and complete any outfit and sequin pumps can definitely compliment your little black dress.
Colorful Sequin Mini Skirt, $24.80 from Forever 21
3. Short or skirt. Instead of wearing a full-on dress, you can always rock a colorful sequined skirt paired with a monochromatic top and some booties or pumps.
Ombre Sequin Stripe Scarf, $34.90 from The Limited
4. Scarf. If you’re looking for a way to bundle up, you can always add some pizazz to your outfit by wearing a sequined scarf which will compliment your wintery outfit without overpowering it.
Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer, Happy Birthday, 0.5 Ounce, $18.00 from Amazon
5. Nail Polish. If sequins are still too much for you, then you can always do a simple glam by swiping on a glittery or sequined nail polish for that pop of color and shimmer. Try Deborah Lippman’s Happy Birthday or OPI’s Mad As A Hatter.
With these fashionable touches of glitter, you can wear sequins without appearing tacky — and your friends will appreciate that you didn’t burn their eye sockets clean with your dress.
How do you Lovelies rock sequins?

Sequins are for older women!

the scarf is cute! the other items are too much for me!

love everything except the dress or shirt.
sequins would work lovely as an accessories but I can never pull it off.

all of them are still over doing it. I’d wear subtle sequin accents, such as subtle sequin embellishments on a dressy shirt’s neckline.

i hope that the first picture was an example of overdoing it with those sequins .
everything is cute except the skirt, it looks cheap and tacky .

Love the clutch, LOVE the purse, love the nail polish.

I like that skirt, but I think it’s overdone.

@Smokin_SultrySally@xanga - not to sound like a bitch but where have you been? Sequins are totally in and very on trend right now.
And the key to sequins is the same as extremely bright colors. Stick to one or two items max otherwise it is too much.

@Love_never_fails - OK, I should open up my mind then. I really secretly like them, I’m just being bratty tonigt, sorries

I feel I can’t get away with wearing them (especially to work) since I am an “older” woman. All of my fellow professors mistake me for a student when they first meet me so I try to avoid the trends my students are wearing. However, I am starting not to care. That F21 skirt has so much potential. The person that styled that model should have their stylist title stripped until future notice.

YOU CAN NEVER OVERDO SEQUINS! THEY ARE FABULOOOOOUUUUUUS!

Ok I realize my first reaction to this post was like OMG I LOVE SEQUINS, but I just skimmed over the comments and are you freaking joking??? Sequins are so fantastic. They are not only for old ladies, nor are they too flashy. You just have to know how to dress. It’s not difficult. Jesus lol. I think this is a good post for you lost souls.

I have this sequined top (it has faded gold sequins all over the front part, back part is just the black cloth on which the sequins are on), and was going to wear a blazer (completely plain) over it, with some dark washed jeans…that isn’t overdoing it, right?
(I’ve been scared to wear the top ever since I’ve got it because I don’t want to reflect off the sun)

Sooo, no sequined bodysuit, then? Awww…

I LOVE sequins! French Connection specializes in them very well must I add. You can only rock sequins with the right attitude!

Really try to avoid sequined clothing as much as possible..or sequined anything for that matter since if you brush your hand/against it the wrong way, it feels rough/sequin might get detached. Hassle to wash.
Though some outfits do look cute in them though!

I actually use that nail polish you have pictured all the time. I would totally rock that scarf as well.

not near enough sequins. I’m totally loving the full black sequinned dresses out there atm =P
