Dear all, The MARC JACOBS PR team is sorry to inform you that our Press Day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store is cancelled, due to the theft of the SS12 collections during its transfer from Paris.
En route from Paris to a press day in London the 46 looks from Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer 2012 collection were reportedly stolen, according to this e-mail from MJ’s public relations team. This alarming news will likely shake more than just those expecting to see the collection in person this weekend in London.
Needless to say models and celebrity stylists alike are known to clamber for the latest from Marc Jacobs at any given time, and the heist will mean no samples from which to create a full line. But the brand’s reach will be hurt even more immediately in the form of magazine editorial spreads who usually use the physical samples on their models to promote a line before its wider release.
This isn’t the first crime of its kind, but red carpets and their onlookers will undoubtedly shed a tear for lack of Jacobs’ signature pieces this season, while some foreign factory cranks out cheap imitations.
