I’ve been bleaching my upper lip since high school and am okay with the results. i’ve been wanting to try waxing my upper lip but i’m scared that i’ll get some bad side effect and look funny for a while. any suggestions or comments?
I was exactly like you. I tried bleaching my upper lip some years back. Unfortunately, it didn’t work as well for me, so I made the decision to start getting my upper lip waxed. A friend of mine suggested to get it professionally done first to make sure you get all of those nasty hairs out. It hurt like hell, but it definitely worked wonders!
Sally Hansen Hair Remover Wax Strip Kit For The Face, $7.49 from Amazon
To save money, I have started waxing myself at home using Sally Hansen Hair Remover Wax Strip Kit for Face. The kit comes with pre-wax strips that you can easily apply to your upper lip. However, I know that some people are resistant to the Sally Hansen wax brand, so if it doesn’t work for you, continue going to your favorite salon to wax.
Don’t be afraid! You won’t get any bad side-effects at all. Like I said, it will be painful, but it will definitely be worth it. Beauty is pain!
How do you Lovelies take care of that annoying upper lip? Does it bother you?

I’ve tried the Nair wax strips kit for face and it worked really well for me. Nair facial hair remover cream also works (although it kinda smells funny). I used to use it when I lived in the dorms, and the hardest part was trying to run from my room to the bathroom and quick rinse off the creamy mustache before anybody saw me

I use Nair facial hair remover cream and although it works better for me than waxing, it irritates my skin even if I don’t leave it on all that long. I’d still recommend it but I usually do it right before I go to bed and put on some deep moisturizing lotion to avoid going out with puffy and red, irritated skin. By morning, it looks good. Waxing works well too but it’s more painful and can get kind of messy.
Don’t shave your lady stache, whatever you do! My sis in law does that and she now gets manly looking stubble if she doesn’t shave it every other day. yikes

Shave it. Not only is shaving relaxing, but it oozes masculinity.

i just use tweezers and give myself a good hour for the redness to go away before i go out. cheap. i usually do this before i shower

@atl_luv@xanga - How often do you tweeze? Do they grow back darker? I’m considering this.
My overall-light-upper lip hair didn’t bother me until I went to a salon for eyebrow waxing. After I laid down, the person wanted to confirm by asking, “So you wanted eyebrows & upper lip, correct?”…..Wait, wut?….. :’(

I use to go to a salon to get it waxed but even though I felt semi-comfortable it was still costly and annoying.
After awhile I decided to invest in a wax warmer and all the extra stuff and I am greatly satisfied with it. Since I paid attention to how a professional waxes and did some small online research it really wasn’t that hard. Now I never have to worry about when it grows in and making monthly trips to the salon.

Thread it! I won’t do anything else. It does stil the first few times, but I promise it’s worth it!

I use the sally hansen wax and I really like it. just waxed yesterday, in fact.
@Whatsthat@momaroo - if your sis in law waxes once, the stubble will go away. stubble is caused by cutting the hair shaft- it makes a jagged end. when you wax it tears the hair out by the root, and when it grows back it will have a natural, fine end and won’t feel like stubble any more.

I should buy some wax strip. I just pluck my upper lip and it hurts like hell.
