If you thought that “murses” were already drawing the line between male and female fashion, then Marco Berardini’s nail polish line for men is bringing things to whole new level.
According to Dailymail, iconic figures like Johnny Depp, Prince Harry, and yes even heart throb David Beckham all sport nail polish as a part of their look. Beckham went with a light pink shade for the Christening of Liz Hurley’s baby while Prince Harry was spotted with bright pink nails on a night out back in London in 2009.
Berardini’s EvolutionMan varnish showcases three manly colors: grey, purple, and gunmetal colors named “Pavement,” “Alter Ego” and “Stand Out.”
Other beauty trends that have somehow managed passing off as “masculine” include eyelure’s false eyelashes for men, Kenmen’s cosmetic line, and yes—even stilettos are beginning to become increasingly common on men.
Berardini believes that man manicures continue to rise and that it is a way of expression far less drastic than a permanent tattoo. As for the false eyelashes and stilettos, I’m not sure if there’s any way to justify those as masculine fashion. I don’t know about you Lovelies out there, but certain things should strictly be kept as girls-only. Sorry, fellas!
What do you think? Would you want your man in stilettos with perfect nails and falsies? Yikes!

I don’t care what guys use, but I reserve the right to think that it’s unattractive. Like Johnny Depp, these days.
I’m going to ask again, WHY do we want men to be as freaking high maintenance as our girlfriends? I mean, having to deal with my own chipped polish is bad enough… I don’t want to hear about my husband ruining his mani too. LOL.

smelling good + good hygiene = good enough

I know more men who wear nail polish (or have some colour on their nails) than women, honestly. I also know an exponentially greater amount of men than women, so, meh. Their nails are shockingly not a reflection of their manhood. Amazing, right? I know. It’s so weird.
Good thing men don’t view fashion like some Lovelyish folks tend to. You lot wouldn’t be able to wear pants. ‘Some things should be kept to men only. Sorry, gals! Back to dresses for you!’
@WaitingToShrug@xanga - WHAT?! Johnny Depp looks damn good. Man’s damn-near 50, and sure doesn’t look like it.

I doubt that my husband will ever use any of those products on a regular basis (maybe for Halloween, maybe). I actually prefer him the way he is. However, if he wants to participate in any of the mani-pedi, purse carrying, other grooming activities, that’s his business. He’s a grown man, he can dress/accessorize himself. I did get him face wash because I noticed him breaking out, and he yelled things like, “Woman! What do I need this for?” and so forth. However, I might be concerned if he wants to wear high heels and falsies, considering I rarely ever wear them myself.

I’ve successfully lassoed two straight male friends into getting pedicures with me. Neither got polish on either occasion, unfortunately.

I sometimes give my fiance a man-acure. I push his cuticles back, file his nails, buff them. That’s it. He likes them to look nice and sometimes he gets hangnails and stuff, but it’s more a thing that he knows I like to do for him, so he sits still for me.
@Grtt@xanga - mmmmm Depp could wear any color nail polish… or anything…. and look damn good!

@Grtt@xanga - Yeah, he can wear nail polish if he wants. That’s not the first thing I notice about him for sure.

@beca - Did they automatically start batting for the other team? Cause, from what you read about here, it just might make them sprint for the nearest gay bar.

If you aren’t Johnny Depp, metrosexual, or homosexual, gtfo. I already have to fight you men for women. I’m not going to fight you for my nailpolish too.

@Grtt@xanga - Ha, no. But I do think they both secretly liked their scale-free feet.

I actually like that silver polish, I wouldn’t wear it personally, but it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal… but definitely not wearing high heels or fake eyelashes.
(I think anyone wearing fake eyelashes would be weird! I mean, seriously, what’s wrong with your own eyelashes?!?!)
(And how the hell can anyone walk in high heels? They look like a face-plant waiting to happen! I’m clumsy as it is hahaha)

I’m sorry but my first expression of this is…WTF
I can accept men wearing make up in any form when it comes to Theater and whatnot because make up enhances features that need to be viewed by the public. But a line of nail polish for men? Why don’t they start making masculine products aimed for woman while their at it? Or lipstick for men? Or mascara for men? What? Are the woman going to turn into the men now?

If certain things should be kept as girls only, you’re going to need to quit stealing our closet items! I see you women wearing men’s clothes all the time. Why do you get that freedom, but we can’t wear what you wear? Give me a break. I believe in fashion freedom.
I already acrylic four nails on my right hand (recently started doing them myself to save money) in a natural, soft pink powder. If it wasn’t for pilot dress code, I’d consider painting my acryliced nails with guitar-themed designs (chord charts, for example) just for grins and giggles. That is, after all, the reason they are acrylic.

The day that I see a manly man walking in a pair of stilettos better than I can walk in them… is the day I board the next shuttle to Mars. Or something. I don’t know I just don’t want some dude walking in heels better than me.

my dad gets manicures but he’s never gotten actual color [ except clear ] & that’d be really weird if he did . i’m all for personal hygiene and taking pride in yourself but i’m not going to date someone who wears higher heels than me & is asking to borrow my nail polish . i want my man to look … well, manly .

Could happen. But it looks disgusting.

Why the double standard with clothing? I never understood this. And the super macho men probably won’t do any of this so those of you who like your men “manly” shouldn’t give a damn about this anyway. So what about any of this? Why can’t the guys who want to wear heels, or fake eyelashes, or nail polishes, or freaking dresses do what they want? We have the ability to wear pants and sneakers. Half the girls on my campus would easily fall for guys if they wore a baggy enough shirt and pulled their hair up and covered with with a hat. Sure I guess in certain situations keep dress according to our current standards but out on the town? Let them wear what they want. And it doesn’t mean they’re gay either if they wear high heels. Maybe they just like how it makes their legs look. Not all feminine looking guys are gay. Some are straight and they would look really good in a good pair of heels.

I give my fiance manicures, usually just clear on the fingernails and color on the toenails. It’s fun for both of us! I don’t see why there has to be a double standard for things like that. As far as I’m concerned, we should all accessorize however we want.

I want women to be allowed to be topless in every state. I want there to be comfortable dress shoes for women that actually look decent. I want to be judged on my merits, and not my apathy for style and fashion. Men can wear what they want. Women can wear what they want. Just let me wear what I want. I was volunteering at a symposium wearing black pants and brown heels (the only closed toe heels I owned, as required). A girl was staring at me and asked “Ummm….do you realize that black doesn’t go with brown?” I simply replied “do you realize that I don’t care?”.
And not a single fuck was given that day.

EW NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! BRING BACK THE BRAWNY PAPER TOWEL DUDE! lol

ok, i can dig a bit of nail polish on guys in manly colors, but hot pink? high heels? NO.

Ah yes, a breath of fresh Xanga air, finally. I had guy friends in high school (1998-2002) that painted their nails.

As long as a male has good hygiene I don’t care what they wear as long as they don’t act like a 6itch.
I do not date women for the shear fact I can’t stand women like personalities.
