Hello, my name is Brittany, and I’m addicted to Twitter. My friend got me hooked a couple of years ago. I really didn’t understand or care for it at first. Why would anyone want to “tweet” or post statuses all day about what they’re doing? But little did I know how quickly-addicting the site would be. Statistics as of today: 9,232 tweets, 1766 following, and close to 5,000 followers.

.

Though I believed at first that Twitter was just a passing fad, I become obsessed with tweeting– fast. I literally tweet my 140 characters on just about everything that is happening in my life (minus relationships). Where I am, who I’m with, what I’m listening to, how bored I might be in a class (I probably shouldn’t say that, right?). I also promote posts from my own personal blog. And don’t let me get started when an award show is on. The night of the MTV VMAs, I almost ended up in the infamous Twitter jail (where Twitter literally blocks you from being able to tweet, because you have tweeted too much in a given hour or day).

Twitter’s also been a great way to communicate with my friends that are on there. You’re honestly more likely to get a tweet from me than a call, as crazy as that is to say. I get my replies and direct messages sent straight to my phone so that I can reply even while I’m on the go.

I follow a great deal of celebrities on there too — probably too many, actually. I keep up with most of the Kardashians, as well as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna, among many of my other fave celebs. I followed Beyoncé for a while too, in hopes that she would finally break down and officially join the Twitfam. Sadly, her tweets still rest at 0, though she has almost 2 million followers. I guess they’re holding out in hope too.

My most intense Twitter following? Probably D.C. rapper Wale. I’m in LOVE with him and his music. He always reaches out to fans, and keeps them updated on concert dates, new songs, and just his life in general. I constantly tweet him, his official fan page and his team on a regular basis. I’ve even gone as far as to get his tweets sent to my phone so I can see what he’s up to, even away from my laptop. What can I say? I’m a fanatic.

So yes, I am a Twitter addict. And I’m kinda proud of it. Oh, and by the way, you can follow me @ONESpotlight for my lovely ramblings on life!

Is anyone else obsessed with Twitter or any other social media site?
