I get thoroughly excited when I check the weather each morning and see that the high as 79 degrees and the low in the mid 60s. This is what makes Floridians smile, therefore, it makes me smile. Reality check: It’s still warm which means I need to see how I can appropriately “rock” a pair of shorts with tights and not look like the above. Worst. Ensemble. Ever.

I rummaged through my piles of clothes and managed to throw together this:

A khaki-colored semi-structured jacket was thick enough to keep me warm but light enough for me to wear all day. I found a similar style like mine:

2-Button Knit Blazer, $39.99 from Charlotte Russe

Underneath I paired a deep purple v-neck I got from Forever 21 and a brown floral infinity scarf. The scarf I have was from last year at Anthropologie here’s one that is not the same one but is similar to my outfit:

Women’s Infinity Scarves, $14.94 from Old Navy

To be honest, I large portion of my outfit is from Urban Outfitters. I tend to shop the sale there because the quality of the clothing ain’t worth the price of full-priced merchandise and I don’t mind if my hypothetical T-shirt happens to fall apart if I only paid $15 for it. Which leads me to the bottom half of my outfit. The shorts are kinda like these:

Heritage 1981 High Waist Striped Shorts, $16.90 from Forever 21

I paired them with an old pair of muted floral tights I got from Target a couple of years ago to go with it. I found these below and thought they were similar (a little more colorful… in fact.. very colorful) and cute:

Flower Print Opaque Crazy Tights By Sheerly Touch-ya, from Amazon

The colors are soft and muted enough to not make it look like the wallpaper drank too many Madras and decided to throw up. Let’s face it, printed tights are hard to pull off. The bolder the print, the more likely they blur any other piece of clothing your wearing, but if the rest of your outfit seems to be rather neutral, crying for a pop of color and some texture. In this case, printed tights can always be an idea. However, if feeling a bit more demure, you can never go wrong with solid colors. To finish my look, I threw on a pair of tan leather boots and went out to play.

To conclude, the concept of shorts and tights can be a little intimidating. I see too many girls at school who wear the low-rise cut-off jean shorts with tights and UGGS. To be blunt, it makes me cringe, but maybe it’s just me and the fact that have gotten used to high-waisted pants/shorts… and I refuse to wear UGGS. Follow your heart.
