Sephora just released a unique line of nail polish by Nails Inc. London that is actually magnetic — but don’t worry ladies, you’ll still be able to safely walk past your fridge without something brutal happening to you or your hot new manicure.
The nail polish itself has a formula actually infused with metallic particles and when magnetic force is applied to the polish, the particles actually move, creating a one of a kind pattern.
This polish is still brand spanking new and in incredibly high demand. When I walked into Sephora to pick up a bottle or two of my own, the display table looked like the aisles of a post-apocalyptic supermarket. So, needless to say the selection was limited but not simply due to its popularity. As of right now, the enormously popular polish comes in only 3 shades: Gold, metallic silver and deep purple. After pawing through what was left of their supply, I chose the metallic silver. See my results above.
Here’s the thing about this polish, it’s cool — there’s just no denying that. By simply and carefully holding the magnetized cap over your drying polish you will create a seemingly-airbrushed design almost instantly. Not to mention it has a beautiful, shiny, almost 3-D finish. This polish might be a little out of your comfort zone or simply not your style. However if you’re into bold, textured styles for your nails, this product might blow your mind.
Have any Lovelies tried this polish? Who loves it and who hates it?

meh i think it looks tacky, but then again i didn’t like the crackle polish trend either.

I think if I saw it on the right person with the right style that I’d think it was chic. But on me personally, it just didn’t look right.

I think it’s cool, but I would never pay that much money for a nail polish.

Very cool from a scientific standpoint! I don’t think I’d wear it though

I like it, but not for me. I’m a glitter addict when it comes to nail polish.
I do love Nails Inc.’s other new polish, their flakie duos. You get one dark polish and another with all these gorgeous opalescent flakes in them. I’m stalking them online til I can get a set. >.>
This is way better than those ugly crackles that were popping up everywhere last year.

Looks like it would take a toll on your electronics if the magnetism is strong enough….like.. your phone… ipods… prolly won’t affect the microwave but hey… all those are electromagnets.

I think that’s cool, but I’m not going to rush out to get it or anything. I wonder if it’s safe in a MRI scanner, though.

WANT.

I tried it and it’s pretty neat, but if you don’t get the magnet right the first try you have to put on another layer to redo. Sephora doesn’t carry the gold one for some reason, for now it’s just silver and purple in their stores

@Shadowshif@xanga - From what I understand, the polish itself is not magnetic. It contains metals which are attracted to magnets.

@lyrra_askavi@xanga - ah ok. forgive me for not being the brightest crayon in the box
but if the metals are attracted to magnets, couldn’t it still affect your electronics to some degree? even just a lil bit?
orchid / 159 posts
@Shadowshif@xanga - I suppose it depends on your meaning. It will not affect anything any more than putting any other metal near it. Technically, yes, since all atoms act upon and affect one another’s fields. But for all intensive purposes, no there is no effect.
However, someone did bring up MRI, which uses a powerful magnet to create resonance imaging. This magnet would pull the tiny pieces of metal out of the polish, but it would not harm you (though it could possibly harm the machine).

@lyrra_askavi@xanga - Ah ok gotcha
though, not worried about the polish coming off, just the everyday stuff but since it shouldn’t matter much, ok then
it was more of a curiosity issue
