Whenever I crave a warm, chocolatey dessert I love to make chocolate cake in a mug. Since it’s so simple and quick, chocolate mug cake is perfect for college students and anyone who finds themselves too busy to bake.
Here’s what you will need:
- 1 large mug
- 4 T flour
- 4 T sugar
- 2 T unsweetened cocoa
- 2 T of a mixed egg (1 egg is too much, 1 egg white is too eggy, 1 yolk is too dense, but 2 T is perfect) *
- 3 T milk
- 3 T oil
- 3 T chocolate chips (optional but adds a great flavor)
- 1 splash of vanilla or cinnamon (also optional but adds depth to the flavor)
* For a fudgier version you can leave the egg out
Simply mix all the ingredients in the mug carefully and microwave for two to two and half minutes. The cake may come up over the mug, but that’s what you want!
Some shortcuts I like to take with this recipe include using instant cake mix in place of the flour, sugar, and cocoa, and also adding a teaspoon of ground coffee to bring out the chocolate flavor. You can also add ice cream, whipped cream or powdered sugar to the top if you’d like.
Overall, I love this recipe since it gives you a warm dessert to enjoy in less than five minutes!

Sounds like a good snack but 3 tablespoons of oil? That’s a lot of oil, or is it teaspoons?
guest
yeah, I was wondering about the measurements..it has to be teaspoons, right?
guest
I tried that out last year. It actually tastes pretty good.

Tried making something similar, but I think I overcooked it–it was chewy.

@shondadiane@xanga - @TiredSoVeryTired@xanga - @x_UNF0RGiVEN@xanga - Usually a capital T is tablespoons, and a lower case T is teaspoons…however, it sounds like too much for this recipe, so I’m no sure how OP has used it.

While this sounds delish, I could never bake something in a microwave.
Has anyone ever tasted water heated up in a microwave? It tastes disgusting. The microwave does weird shit to your water. No way in hell I’m actually baking something in it; I can barely bring myself to reheating pasta in one.

it seriously sounds unhealthy. i still wanna try it though lol.

lol she’s not posting this because it’s healthy.
sheeeesh.

Bahahaha of course it’s not healthy.
My hubby loves cake but since I’m allergic to wheat and eggs, I never share in the cakes I buy/bake for him, and then he eats too much. Also, I’m a lazy baker. I’m totally trying this!

Most college students don’t actually have all those raw ingredients sitting around in their room. So….. Betty Crocker warm delights. It’s the same thing, but all you have to do is add water to the mix. And it’s super tasty =)

I tried it, and it turned out pretty awesome! No wierd microwave flavor either!
