I love prim and tailored cuts for fall. Layering blazers and with feminine tops and scarves is where girls get to have the best of both the menswear and womenswear worlds. Shopping this week I was having to avert my eyes to keep from gorging myself on all the amazing mens-turned-womens styles, not the least of which being a huge selection of femme loafers, booties and oxfords. These smart pieces doll up an outfit and put a touch on it that says, “Say I won’t.” Take a look at what we’ve picked out.
LAUREN BY RALPH LAUREN Glenda Loafers, $49.99 from Lord & Taylor - Pair with cigarette-leg pants or ankle capris.
The Urban Gal’s Oxford Heel, $62.99 from ModCloth - Try these with tights and a dress.
Janiece, $84.98 from Aldo - You can get away with these all winter with jeans, skirts, leg warmers and trousers.
ASOS MARS Metallic Loafer Shoes, $50.32 from Asos – Another smart loafer, these would totally spice up a pair of jeans.
Schnader, $60.00 from Aldo – You can rock these with your cuffs rolled up to show off some bright socks or even with some patterned tights.
I love the challenge of feminizing these cool-dude-kicks. This season is all about making the old new again, so drag out your Docs, your Hush Puppies and your wing-tips. Rocking this trend is a breeze, and don’t let it stop at your feet! Oversized watches, trousers, skinny belts and vests are popping up everywhere, tailored to flatter your lady-shapes. So don’t let the boys have all the fun.
So, Lovelies, is this another case of “I guess I’ve been wearing these since before they were cool?” Or can you not wait to collect on the goods?

I like dude shoes for the most part. Yet, I do not like these. *shrug*

Oxford style shoes have been in for a while. I was expecting actual guy shoes, I wear my boyfriend’s shoes like it’s my day job. His collection of high tops is magnificent. God bless having the same shoe size

Wasn’t it just last week or so we were making fun of men for wearing ‘women’s’ shoes?

Awesome, I am loving those shoes in the first pic on the runway!

If that is the case, I’ve liked “boy” shoes for a while. I wasn’t aware that loafers and oxfords were ever not in style (or maybe I didn’t care). I was also thinking that it would be pictures of women wearing men’s shoes.

@Grtt@xanga - lol yes. i guess we’re donning all sorts of things while we kick down barriers.

Haha the top pair reminds me of the shoes Elaine wore in a lot of Seinfeld episodes… but I do like the last pair.

@kackie - but why is it okay for is to wear guys shoes, but it’s “weird” for guys to wear girl shoes?

@written_conversations@xanga - Yes, that was my point, lol. Thanks!

I noticed this beginning last fall, with the moccasins…though I’m sure they’re warm, I just don’t think I’ll be wearing any of these shoes. Men’s boots? I’ll try that out.

@written_conversations@xanga - here in austin it’s not weird AT ALL. Dudes go out looking freaking SWEET in heels with their outfits. Granted, not every dude downtown is rocking Manolos, but I don’t even wear heels because I look like a goof ball. I think I look weirder in them than they do.

@destinationmoderation@xanga - yeah I thought I’d have to wait for the snow before I posted that stuff, but then it went and snowed in October. Maybe I should go ahead and do a boot post!

I’m pretty sure I have some Schnaders in the closet actually, and I don’t wear them, if anyone can fit into a men’s size 12

Ew ew ew.

God those are horrible. But I’m sure millions of girls will rush out to buy them because some stupid magazine told them to.

Oxford heels I don’t own a pair, but I’d like to~~~

My mom wears a couple of these styles for work. I think she’ll be happy to hear that her work shoes are now “in”.

@kackie - By dudes wearing heels, do you mean boots with functional heels (cowboy boots, work boots, steel toes) or are you talking about fashion heels?

@LupusInvictus@xanga - fashion! i mean it’s definitely the more fashionable males doing this, but i see it often!
