I have a black, satin corset that resembles this one pictured above. It’s a leftover from a costume last year, but to save money, I want to recycle it again.
I could do a dark angel or a vampire, but those have transcended to cliché status with their oversaturation. I want to take this basic corset to new heights, but I need your help, Lovelies!
My best lead is to take on the role of the Natalie Portman in Black Swan. All I’d really have to add is a tutu, but would that really make that big of a splash?
What do you guys suggest?

Corsets always remind me of Moulin Rouge.

i believe it would REALLY make a huge splash especially if you add the dramatic eye make up & you’re hair slicked back!

Personally I like the Black Swan idea. You should totally do it!

It depends on what you’re going for and your budget. If you want to go for something more recognizable and seemingly cheap but not boring, go with the Black Swan idea. If you’re going for a more sexy and/or dark look, depending on your budget and what you already have aside from the corset, you could do a gothic themed of burlesque themed outfit. If you want to do something a bit more creative, creepy, and dark, I’d go with the creepy doll look. You’re outfit options are still pretty open and cheap. Here’s a really neat Make-up tutorial for some ideas:

Ooooo, do the Black Swan idea! That’s original yet recognizable, and it would look really cool. You should find a friend to go as the white swan

yeah…black swan!
Or be one of those Sucker Punch girls.

I like the Moulin Rouge idea….I know I’m wearing my corset in honor of Rocky Horror this year!

Black Swan is a nice idea. I was thinking something Burlesque, or possibly the saloon girl look.

Steampunk(google) Mademoiselle, 1900′s Circus Girl(Top hat, Full skirt), fairy tale characters, or can can girl

I honestly think you should post this on Reddit. Look for r/halloween (or just google it). They will give you tons of ideas. Good luck.

Pear it with a tutu skirt! DARK BALLARINA!

I love, love, LOVE the black swan idea! You can pair that with a black tutu and then do the makeup and perhaps the wings, too! I checked Amazon for similar ideas (I was thinking the black swan idea myself but I can’t afford it right now) and I saw the make up kit for around 24.99 and I saw the wings for 27.99. Both were free shipping over 25$. I’m not sure what your budget it but that’s a place to look. I think the wing set came with the crown, too ^.^. If not you can go to wal mart and probably find the make up for cheaper. A costume store is bound to have a tiara and black wings, too. good luck in your searching!!

i like the idea
love the corset too!

Just wear it, no need to make any real adjustments. Halloween has become nothing but “dress like a whore day” so it would be refreshing to see someone just own up to that and have fun with it.
Either way, I hope you have a great time.

@imTHEmeowMIXcat@xanga - Exactly.

there’s always Christine from Phantom of the Opera…

playboy bunny, just wear pink tights get a white and black bowtie ears and a bunny tail.. insta-pamanderson! haha
you can turn it into any costume really, just add accessories. maybe mafia? just get a collar-tie: the kind they usually have w/ costumes, a fedora, and a pinstriped skirt or pants and a fake machine gun
guest
You could add some leathery-looking tights and high boots and go as Kate Beckinsdale’s character from Underworld, Selene.
guest
Do the black swan. But you have to do the makeup and hair with it..
I was going to be that, but I ran out of time. Maybe glue some feathers along the bustline too.
guest
Mate it with a victorian ensemble for a steampunk theme
guest
The easiest would be a Playboy Bunny. But the coolest would definitely be Black Swan, if you get the hair and makeup right.
guest
be a burlesque dancer or a playboy bunny

Oh for god’s sake, I can’t be the only person on here who thinks this is extremely LAME.
All I can see over and over in my mind is I’M A MOUSE < DUH! from Mean Girls.
Having fun dressing up like a two cent whore. How you dress is a reflection of your personality, your beliefs, and more. As a student of fashion, you surely understand this. So I guess you ARE a two cent whore… or wish to embody that. Either way, it’s a bit disturbing.
ENTER AUTOMATIC “OMG, EVERYONE DRESSES SLUTTY ON HALLOWEEN! SO THAT MAKES IT OK! UGH, WHATEVER, LOL!”

Screw all these suggestions. Be Hester Prynne from The Scarlet Letter. ;D

I’m just whacking on devil ears and tail and calling myself a cheeky devil girl with my corset. I was thinking of going as Lust (as in the deadly sin) but I think most people would just assume I’m being a slut because it’s Halloween and I can.

BLACK SWAN is your best bet, I did the same and won a Halloween costume party this past weekend!
super easy and highly recommended. I don’t think you’ll get a better idea.
I took an old black corset and used fabric glue and stuck black feathers and rhinestones on it, and glued feathers around the tutu as well. Then I bought a pair of white tights, red eye contacts, a crown that I colored some black on, tied my hair back and did the crazy makeup with mostly black liquid eyeliner, white face makeup, and a silver sharpie (I’m sure there’s silver makeup but the sharpie was so perfect. I also got a pair of black winged fake eyelashes.
It looks great and is one of a kind when you make it yourself
and just for the record in reply to that salty-ass comment about being slutty on Halloween, the costume is not at ALL slutty, it looks just like the movie costume because that’s pretty much exactly what she wears for the role.
