Christina Aguilera paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson this weekend at the ‘Michael Forever’ concert in the UK.
Aguilera belted out “Smile” while rocking a black bodysuit and fishnets, looking a little Lady Gaga-esque, a little Cher a la “Turn Back Time,” no? [via Celebuzz]

Goddamn bodysuits/leotards look flattering on absolutely no one.

Good God. She looks like a bloated mess.

Oh man. She looks like a hot mess.

Yep, would of been better to have done this when he was BREATHING and ALIVE.
But yeah, a bloated mess…

I was gonna comment about how much of a mess she looked, but after watching her performance, I have to comment on how much she butchered one of the most beautiful songs ever (and one of my favorite songs ever).
This is a song where you DON’T need any major runs to make it sound beautiful. The melody and lyrics of “Smile” speaks for itself. What Christina did was try too hard to make it her own. She definitely made it her own… and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Listen to Michael Jackson, Judy Garland, Natalie Cole, and Nat King Cole’s version (just to name a few). The simplicity and the way they executed it in a way of innocence is absolutely breathtaking.
And a note to Christina: if you wanted to throw some runs in there, you should take some notes from Stevie Wonder and Janelle Monae‘s version.

I liked her better when she did that 1920′s style thing.

“Lady Gaga-esque”? I hate when people say that. Christina dressed like this WAY before Lady Gaga. If anything, Lady Gaga is copying Christina and all the others before her.

I liked when she did 40′s style. It was cool. I wish I could style here. I wouldn’t do 40′s I guess, but I’d color her hair differently and lose all the black and leather, etc. She’d look nicer in lighter colors and without the bleachy hair all the time.

@pick_my_friggin_nose@xanga - I agree with you. She oversings all the time and it’s just to the point where I find it absolutely annoying. She is talented, no doubt; but oversinging songs–especially classics and Christmas carols–is just as much of a “don’t” as singing off-key or not making it your own at all.

When I first saw a picture of her in this outfit, I didn’t even recognize her. I thought she had come out of her Stripped-era dark days for good, so this comes as a disappointment. A little weight gain is fine, but that outfit and her hair is a class-less mess. And the reason for her weight gain isn’t good either (I don’t really follow entertainment news but I hear it’s from drinking?)

I truly wish I could say she looked good; not good, at all.

I can’t say she looks good…
But really, who likes to wear pants?

She is a healthy normal person size. More power to her for not killing herself by starvation to look thin.
She’s got a baby to take care of on top of this… Go, Christina!
