Texting is a part of our culture and these simply capture what it has become:
The extra letters:
The whale text.
And of course, the all-time favorite: autocorrect.
How do you feel about texting? Funny or useless?

Kind of over the whale texts… They were funny the first couple of times, now they’re just over done and annoying. I like the “letters” one. “Hey” versus “heyyyy.” Lol. Quite true, if I say so myself. Except, I don’t consciously think about it as I’m typing it out, I just do it.

I didn’t know there was such thing as whale texting. Then again, I also don’t have an iPhone

@Ashley Nicole Anders@facebook - You’re so trendy and interesting for not having a phone like the rest of us. You’re also incapable of communicating with people after you leave the house. Good luck meeting friends and maintaining relationships.

Whale texting…never heard of that. I will say I hate it when people put “lol” or “haha” after everything they say. I also hate the one word texts, especially when someone says “ok”. Such a waste of time and a text message.

@chakram54@xanga - I agree that it is annoying when people use “LOL” or “Haha” after every text/instant message. And about the one word texts.
I think texting is useful, but I do not occupy my time with useless texts. I utilize text when I need to communicate something quickly to a family member or friend, such as “I’m going to the store, do you need something?” or “We’re going to the movies, want to join us? We’re going to ___ theatre at ___ PM.” I feel it is better to have conversations over the phone in the form of a call, or text the person to meet up in person for a conversation.

@Ashley Nicole Anders@facebook - Other reasons I do not like texting for conversations: 1. Statements can be easily miscontrued. 2. Even with a full keypad on the phone, they take too much time to compose. 3. Txting language bothers me: the shorthand, acronyms, misspelling and grammar. I know I am not perfect when it comes to those things, but it bothers me to see things blatantly spelled incorrectly. I don’t have a landline at home, so that is the reason for me having a mobile phone. I do, however, have noticed that there are many people who have a mobile phone for “communicating” but it is usually just useless banter and time-wasting.

Why do people think being alone in public is weird? I like being alone walking to classes and stuff and people at my school look at me like I’m a total freak. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? I don’t give a fuck if I’m alone; why do you?

@TallandThinIsBetter@xanga - I don’t mind walking alone but waiting or just standing somewhere use to really bother me. people will get over with time

@Ashley Nicole Anders@facebook - It’s okay. I didn’t get a phone until I was at least 18 and even then I never really used it and never liked texting and even now, I still really don’t..
I’ve only had a phone in case of emergencies or in case of getting a hold of people especially when I moved about 500 miles away for like a year and had no other way of contacting people (before I even knew about facebook either). Still, I do wish that I could meet up with people face to face and talk to them that way, but a lot of the time, it’s not possible. Their lives are different from mine and they usually run on different schedules. I guess I could I say I keep my phone for safety reasons and to get a hold of people if I need them because otherwise? I don’t really use my phone for much. It’s just there really.

@TallandThinIsBetter@xanga - agreed! I don’t understand why so many people find it strange, haha.

I want an iPhone so I can send whale texts!? What????
Also, MaleMinded ftw! I like texting my friends and boyfriend for fun or out of boredom. Its a nice and easy way to keep in touch now that I’m away at school.
