I’m not saying at all that I’m the best driver ever, everyone has been both the person that has done the wrongdoing and has had wrong done to them while driving. Here are just some things I really CANNOT stand while driving!
- Slow People: The only time this is acceptable is if they are elderly. If the speed limit is 55mph and you are going 35mph it will obviously be annoyingly and painstakingly slow to others. Not to mention the people who are in front of you and go so slow you miss the light.
- People who think they’re too cool to signal: I’m talking about those people who cut everyone off and switch lanes unnecessarily. Really?
- People who will not let you in: When you’re trying to exit and a person really just will not let you in and avoid eye contact when you try to look at them.
- People who multitask while driving: I saw a girl curling her eyelashes while looking into her mirror and a man eating a bowl of noodles before. Please stop. You make me very nervous and afraid.
- Tailgaters: If you’re getting impatient, you’re more than welcome to switch lanes!
- People who suck at backing up: LOOK before you back out!
- People who suck at parking: I mean, not everyone parks perfectly straight all the time, but I’m talking about the people who park so crooked they are completely outside the lines and take up two spaces, or where it’s so close you can’t get out or into your own car.
What are some driving instances you can’t stand?

People texting while driving even at stoplights and people who put makeup on while driving. My mom does this stuff all the time. Is it really that hard to not to do that stuff, especially while you’re in the car for 10 minutes?

In regards to backing up, sometimes people backing up aren’t at fault. When I’m backing my tiny Civic out of a mall parking spot where I’m stuck between two SUVs, I have to go really slowly because there have been one too many near-misses where I’ve almost been hit by assholes flying through the garage.

Being old is not an excuse to drive slow.

people who don’t know how to use roundabouts. There’s one by my apartment and I’ve almost been hit multiple times.

@HeLLo_Bianca@xanga - That’s what I was just about to say. If you’re too slow, you need to get the f-ck off the road (or at least two-lane roads). People have places to be.

I hate it when people don’t signal! Really grinds my teeth!

I once saw a girl driving on the parkway with a textbook on the steering wheel…and she was HIGHLIGHTING in it. OMG

I hate people that don’t signal when they’re supposed to. Not just lane changes and cutting people off, but turning down a street. That is what a turn signal is for, USE IT. It also bothers me when people don’t use turn signals in parking lots or in turn lanes, because they’re turning there as well and there are other cars that need to know what you’re doing.
I’m a tailgater, but I hate when I’m going at least 10 MPH over the speed limit and someones tailgating me. In that case, I’ll just brake until I’m going 5 below just to piss them off
I love driving </3

I’ve never seen anyone drive 35 in a 55 zone.

I hate when people hide in my blind spots. I think people try to make me hit them when they do that. I have a lot of driving pet peeves. I have really awful road rage, not the point of tailgating or cutting people off (not all the time anyways), but I curse a lot when I drive.

@CrAdLe2daGrAve@xanga - And it’s hilarious that it offends you.

I drove slow after a car accident (not my fault by any means) I had which broke my clavicle bone. I was being very cautious and still am! I probably am paranoid now. I prefer slow over fast any day now!
guest
@bloggicus_maximus@xanga - yeah ignoramous i’m fucking asian but i CAN fucking drive! so stfu! if you were on the road i will cut you off and i will tailgate you to annoy the shit out of you but that don’t mean i can’t drive just ‘cuz i’m asian and i will multitask by flipping your ignoramous ass off! and i will back the fuck up on purpose to hit your damn car! and i will park diagonally just to piss you off! and i’ll play mind games with you by not using my signals and i will box you for a good 1 hour on a 2 lane freeway how about that?!

people who cut you off!!!

OMFG tailgaters get on my nerves all the time… like if youre in such a hurry pass me but im not gonna go past the speed limit and risk getting a ticket just so you can go faster -_-
guest
I agree with you on a lot of these. I am a pretty bad tailgater. I try to be conscious of it and back off, but we lived in DC for 3 years and everybody tailgates around the beltway; it’s a way of life. I’m trying to break myself of it.
guest
@pikaaa - I know right, i almost got ran over while a was crossing the street when a girl was turning on the road. and its a school zone (duh), no signal, did not slow down, and i swear she was three inches from the curb (and my foot)

I hate it when I let people in and they don’t even raise their hand up to say thanks… I mean, you’ve been waiting for 3-5 minutes and when someone finally lets you in, you don’t say “thank you”? That’s just rude.
As for the tailgaters… I start breaking every 20-30 seconds, that always makes them back off because (obviously) they do not want to hit the car in front of them, or they will be the ones at fault.
guest
All those (especially the parking one; if you park worse than I did in driver’s ed, than you should never have been given your license because I parked pretty badly but never as badly as some of these people and my teacher would never have let me take the test) plus people who don’t pay attention to pedestrians in the crosswalk. I don’t know how many times people have come speeding into the crosswalk when they stop (and I tend to walk close to the edge away from the stopped cars) while it was time for the pedestrians to cross. One almost hit me (like came a couple inches from me) and then glared at me and I’m a speedy walker. Or when they go to turn but don’t use a signal or look that way and I’m going to cross the way they seem to not be going so I keep going and then they suddenly go and turn and once again, almost collision. People act like we can all read each others minds and it causes so many issues.

people who don’t speed up to merge, therefore forcing me to slow down…and then they look at me all pissed when i just speed pass them…hey i gave you a chance and you didn’t speed up to merge, eff you! or when you switch lanes to pass a slow person but as soon as you do that they speed up so then you can’t pass them…fucking jerk.
guest
the elderly are not excused. if they are slow, they need to get off the damn road. they cause accidents by going slow, no thanks. im down to let people in but if theyre too slow, i wont let them in. im not halting so they can slowly drift into my lane. nor will i let someone in who blatantly cut off a million people and skipped traffic to let them in my lane. no way. i agree with everything else. =) i appreciate drivers who use their signals, drivre approproate speeds, watch the road, and are courteous.
which reminds me… a pet peeve of mine is when a car stops to let you turn. that is nice and all but when they get mad at you when you wont turn pisses me off. im not turning because the other lane is still driving! want me to turn into on coming traffic. fuck that. no way.
guest
It grinds my gears when people look through their mirrors and see that I’m an Asian woman and then immeditately switch lanes in front of me. Its like their brain is wrapped around the assumption that I will crash into them so they switch lanes IN ADVANCE. Its offending :[

I agree with all the points you mentioned. I’d also like to add, people who do not respect pedestrians–especially the ones who honk at me for yielding to them. Now, it chaps my buns that in my neck of the woods, if anything happens to pedestrians it is always the fault of the driver in the car. Sometimes I am a pedestrian, but I know the difference between having the right of way and a good idea. Some pedestrians operate under the idea that since they always the right of way that do not have to utilize common sense. That bothers me.
@P0RCELA1N_D0LL@xanga - I think we could all use less of that.

I usually walk with my kids.. and I really hate people who like to drive through 4 way stops because there is no one else there. A stop sign is a stop sign weather there are other cars or not. I have scuff marks on the front of my stroller from some idiot who ran the stop sign. Thank God my youngest was in an infant carrier in the stroller or who knows what would have happened.
I hate people who ignore the pedestrians cross walks at lights. When the little man is up, pedestrians have the right of way. Our lives should not be in danger because you have to turn right this instant. Wait your turn! In the same way, J-walkers deserve to be hit. Use crosswalks properly.
Cell phones should be BANNED from cars. Yesterday morning I watched a young woman rear end a police car at a stop light while texting.
I also hate people that smoke in cars and throw their butts out the window. I have an ugly burn mark on the top of my stroller from an idiot who threw her butt and it almost landed on my daughter. Luckily for me she was parked, so I turned around and gave it back to her and asked her to be a little more careful about what she was doing.
And the last thing that really burns me is people who don’t freaking courtesy wave when you let them in.

One time I was out taking a walk and this lady was getting into her car rather slowly, which I assumed she was just going to take a while or something. So I walked behind her car without thinking and she instantly started to back out of her driveway. I literally freaked out, ran to the other side of the road, and then she gave me a dirty look. Crazy lady. People should always look before they back out. Geez.

Gee these are 7 insightful and original pet peeves you have while driving……

I hate when people do 20 under in the left lane. Get the fuck out of my way! And 20 under you have to put your hazards on! People who don’t look when they turn or change lanes. Fuck.
guest
I live on a busy street, and I will be trying to get out of my driveway and people will be backed up from the light at the end of my street. Cars will actually STOP right in front of my driveway and not let me out even though they cant even go anywhere! It is SO rude. Sometimes if their window is open I will say something.

@LadyGwenivere@xanga - Some months ago, I was in a car with some friends, driving to a place called Catemaco, which is a four hour drive away from where we were staying. I was in the very back seat of the SUV (the seats where you can’t open windows) and the kid (literally, he is 14 or 15) sitting right in front of me was smoking… so he opened his window to “throw out the ashes”… they ended up falling in my eyes. I pretty much almost killed him because of the pain I was in. So while I cannot identify with you, I can relate to what your baby would have felt. I’m so glad the cigarrette missed him/her!
guest
Some of these things are just unavoidable-parking in difficult places or backing out from places where its hard to see or thinking the next person was going to let that car in or what-have-you. Situations arise where ideal driving situations aren’t possible and we need to learn to give one another a break from time to time.
While I agree with most of there my pet peeves on the road are: people making incomplete stops at stop signs or stopping way before or after the stop line. And did you know that its illegal to make left turn into the right lane!? That bugs me- its dangerous! I also don’t like it when people feel the need to be in such a hurry that they switch from lane to lane instead of just staying in the fast lane. I’m not a big fan of excessive speeders but I wouldn’t say that’s a pet peeve just something that I don’t think people should get away with.
guest
@CrAdLe2daGrAve@xanga - Nah, it wouldn’t piss me off. Good try, though.
guest
it drives me crazy when people stop who have no stop sign our mall has multiple turn ins from the main road none of them have stop signs so as to not back cars up into the busy road and intersections and people freakin stop all the time! keep going!!! if someone at a stop sign hits you they are obviously at fault and can pay for a new car! Pay attention people and there is no reason even being old to go under the speed limit unless your turning or coming to a stop sign or light or bad road conditions, if your too scared to drive get off the road so the rest of us can!
guest
I just have one: the people who ignore signs that say “lane ending” just to try to get as far in front as they can, then have to come to a stop to merge over, especially during heavy traffic. Do they not realize that the reason everyone else is moving slowly is because jerks like them keep trying to get a bit further ahead by screwing everyone who followed the signs?
guest
When people don’t signal.. SO annoying! Also, when people change lanes during an intersection. I’m not being ridiculous… those things are illegal, people! And for good reason! Also, if there’s a sign that says “no left turns” and you decide you’re better than that, and then stop all traffic to make a left turn, I will sit behind you and honk and honk and honk until you move. It’s maybe not the best use of my time, but I’m rarely ever super late for something that I can’t make my point
guest
LMAO!!!
My mom always says “Oh expensive car and he still couldn’t afford turning signals.”
guest
I only tailgate when in the left lane and the car in front of me is going way too slow, and is completely ignorant to the fact that they’re driving at the same speed as the car in the right lane. It’s inconsiderate for them not to either speed up or move over.
guest
people who dont thank you for letting them in your lane

@bloggicus_maximus@xanga - whatever loser i’m done wasting my energy on ignorance

I don’t excuse elderly people. If you’re too old and senile to follow the rules of the road, you should get off the damn roads. I firmly believe we should be retesting people for their driver’s licenses after, say, 55/60-ish.
guest
People who tailgate are either A) Driving a huge truck (making up for something..) or B) Driving a Mini-Van, which I have yet to understand..(late for soccer practice or a PTA meeting?)
guest
I 100% agreeee

I get a SICK pleasure out of parking ridiculously close to the jerks who park all the way on (or over) the line. They are hogging up space, so I park my truck as close as humanly possible to their car so that they have to get in from the passenger side. I literally walk away laughing.
There is a guy with a large truck here at my apartment complex. He CONSISTENTLY parks just over the line with his truck (even though it fits). I purposefully park next to him as often as possible and park so close that our mirrors nearly touch. I walk to my apartment giggling like a maniac each time.
Just two days ago, I watched him climb in through his passenger side door. I laughed hysterically. You would think he would learn, but he hasn’t.
guest
People not watching the light turn green because they are lighting up. Please, sometimes these lights only stay green for a few seconds!
guest
Ugh agreed on all these. Especially tailgating!!

I’ve done a lot of multi-tasking while driving. The worst was either cross-stitching or playing Nintendo DS. Oh, or smoking pot. I dunno, man, I used to commute 2 1/2 hours each way back from university every weekend; shit gets boring on the freeway. I don’t do that kinda thing in the city, not that I’m sure you’ll think that’s any better.

@pikaaa - RIGHT?! It’s SO annoying. It wouldn’t hurt you to let people know that you’re turning into that street or house or whatever it is. -_-
guest
@xKateElizabethx@xanga - That is so funny, but be careful with that because some people may key your car or just back out and not care if they dent their car while trying to dent yours.

i hate when people drive slowly and people who cut me off!
one time my boyfriend was driving on the freeway and we got cut off by a huge truck. it was so scary. if my boyfriend hadn’t seen it and slammed on the brakes right away, this guy would’ve taken our front bumper off. there were 2 lanes on this road. we passed him and my boyfriend honked and flipped him the bird, lol. then two cars in front of that guy blocked him in from passing. that’s when i love people!
guest
ugh i hated our old apartment complex there were two cab drivers that were awful at parking they were always really crooked or would squeeze into a space way to small and block my door even when i parked way to the right to avoid it from happening! The parking spaces were painted spaced wrong and the person who was up next to the entrance had to park in the walk way or the spaces didnt fit the cars. It really sucked cuz our car only unlocks from the driver door and i was like 7 months pregnant so getting in from the passenger side was not always easy. My husband and I would always park strait and wouldnt use a space too small and were courtious to other people but those two guys just didnt give a $hit. Its safe to say they were keyed by multiple people for repeatedly being a$$holes to everyone.
guest
Rubber neckers and people who constantly step on their brakes causing this domino effect of drivers behind them to slow down. That in turn causes traffic.
guest
I think someone who goes inconsistent speeds is A LOT worse than a slow person. On an 11 hour drive we went back and forth between passing or being passed 7 or 8 times with another car on one stretch. It was ridiculously annoying. We just wanted to put on the cruise control and not worry about it.
guest
EXACTLY! which is why i hate driving and would only do it when absolutely necessary.
