After the 3D rerelease of The Lion King made $100 million in its first month, Disney decided to capitalize on the success and rerelease four more classics in theaters over the next two years. The weird thing is you probably wouldn’t have picked these four movies to be rereleased.
The movies that will be rereleased are…
Beauty and the Beast, January 13, 2012 (originally released in 1991)
Finding Nemo, September 4, 2012 (originally released in 2003)
Monsters, Inc., January 18, 2013 (originally released in 2001)
This will be released six months before its prequel, Monsters Universityappears in theaters on June 21.
The Little Mermaid, September 13, 2013 (originally released in 1989)
I’m really excited for Beauty and the Beast to come out, but I was also hoping to see Sleeping Beauty, since those are my two favorite Disney movies of all time.
Will you go to see these movies in theaters? Which Disney movies would you like to see in 3D?

I’d see the beauty and the beast one, because it’s my favorite.

I’m super excited for Little Mermaid, but confused as to why they are releasing more recent ones (nemo, monsters) before it. Oh well!

Finding Nemo sucked. That movie is incredibly annoying, and I can only imagine it to be more so in 3D. Monsters, Inc. I just never cared for. I would’ve loved to see Mulan in 3D though! I can think of so many parts that would be really cool to see pop out of the screen.

Ariel was literally one of my imaginary friends when I was little. Sooo excited for that one!

Beauty and the Beast I’m BEYOND stoked for and I’m so glad it’s coming out first. As for the Pixar ones, meh. I think I speak for most of the generation growing up with the classics by saying we would rather see Disney animated classics over the CG Pixar ones at the moment. Nothing against Pixar, I LOVE them. It’s just a blast in the past when you see the classics on the big screen again (or for the first time).

I’m with you. I want Sleeping Beauty to be done in 3D. I’d actually pay the ridiculous 3D ticket prices to see it. I will probably see Beauty and the Beast as well because I love Belle.

MONSTERS INC!!!!! I didn’t know they were making a prequel! That is literally one of my favorite movies…
