As the saying goes, I do feel that the small things are really what counts in a relationship to keep it going strong.
I just wanted to share a couple of things that I feel any guy can do for their girlfriend or someone they like that would totally make her day!
1. Surprise her with a cute outfit and take her out! The outfit doesn’t have to be insanely expensive since this gesture is simple yet so thoughtful. I know guys might not have the best sense of style, but you can always ask for assistance from the store workers.
2. Plan an entire day out for her! It gets really annoying when guys say they don’t care when girls ask what they want to do. Organize a mini day trip for her at all her favorite restaurants and spots or places that she’s always wanted to go to. (Keeping all the locations a surprise along the way will also make it exciting!)
3. Plan something with her friends! Getting to know your girl’s close friends is one of the most important things because they are her backbone and moral support system. If you plan a cute lunch or activity for the two of you but also invite her friends, it’ll show that you’re making a real effort to be a part of all aspects in her life.
4. Help her out during that time of month! I know it can get a little stressful for guys when their girlfriends yell and cry for no reason but she definitely wants you there! Surprise her with some simple goodies like tampons, her favorite snack, and chocolate. The fact that you went out and bought tampons for her in public will definitely show that you care.
5. Do something she loves to do! The ultimate form of showing you care is self-sacrifice. Whether it be shopping, scrap booking, or yoga if you hate it and she loves it but you do the activity with her anyways, it shows you’re willing to sacrifice for her. Although you may dread her favorite activity it will show you honestly care about her interests.
What are some things you ladies wish your man would do?

That note looks like a girl’s handwriting.

argg… i get what ur talking bout. but this girl that i really liked just goes for looks… and im not exactly the ‘hottest’ dude around. what can i do?
guest
haha…these are all good. Too bad the target audience here is a bunch of hopeful girls.
My boyfriend is super sweet.
Every time I visit him, he gives me a hand made card. They are always super clever too. And if we dine out, he finds sneaky ways to pay for everything! :< I don’t like that, but I really appreciate his effort and thoughtfulness.

If only…

@Grtt@xanga - it totally does xD

I really can’t think of a not expensive cute outfit. Unless you shop at goodwill, it’s going to be at LEAST $30
guest
ok, but don’t show up with chocolate and tampons. Does anyone else find that insulting? What if she’s not on her period? Yow. Also, you’ll probably end up picking up something with a cardboard applicator that she doesn’t usually use. Don’t do it, bro.
guest
I’d appreciate the last two but the other things I’d rather him leave to me. I like having control and freedom when it comes to planning my days either with him or my friends or my outfits. Although it would be sweet of him to ask anyone that knows me well enough is aware that I’m not too keen on big surprises or other people planning things out for me.

These are all adorable!

I love all of these!! But girls should be just as willing to do ALL of these for their guys!!
Except maybe the first one… that’s a tiny bit weird

These are all pretty good. I remember once when I told my boyfriend I was having my period, he showed up later with a big chocolate bar and a bottle of Arizona pomegranate iced tea. It was really sweet.

I see a lot of boyfriends in the Zumba class I take. The instructor loves it and it’s super funny to watch them shake their butts!

someone needs a follow up post for nice things girlfriends can do for their boyfriends! or (even better) specific tips and ideas for couples of all kinds!

Number 1 for sure will have me head over heels for a guy. But then I might question if he was gay since that really almost seems like a girly thing to do. Even if it is super sweet. Lol. Number 5 seems more so like something a straight guy would make the effort to do if he liked the girl. So give or take, this list is pretty cutesy.

That’s cute

Personally I think #4 should be #1!!! I’ll probably be called a killjoy or whatever for saying this but it pisses me off when guys joke & act squeemish about periods. As natural (& yes we know…gross) as it is, it’s not a cake walk. I sometimes call it a practice pregnancy every month because I feel physically sick, everything between the ankles & my neck hurts, & cramps is an understatement. My reproductive organs are at war with my body (thank you Dysmenorrhea…). So to hear a guy give me crap about how I “complain” one week a month over something I get all the time makes me want to backhand him across the room & not because of hormones. LOL.
To me if you’re grown enough to buy condoms & have sex, you should be man enough to buy your girl some tampons/pads when she needs it.
BTW, love the rest of the list!

@winterEnds@xanga - I had to ask my guy friend to stop and get me some when I was at work and he actually picked out the really nice kind haha. And as far as I know, he was the first girl that he bought tampons for. Maybe some guys are just naturals at it.
guest
@winterEnds@xanga - LOL I was thinking the exact same thing about the cardboard applicator
.

I have that orange forever 21 dress.
guest
ahhhhh #1 that would be SO cute.

My husband does mostly all the items on the list, except now he knows better than to shop for clothing for me
. He still won’t buy feminine supplies, but I guess it’s good because he can’t seem to get the right kind, even if I give him the label off the old package (of anything) so I just keep stocked up all the time so he never has to shop for it. I love when he surprises me with special plans, even though I tell him that I don’t like surprises. I’m definitely grateful that he thinks of me

my boyfriend already did #2 for our anniversary<3
i love #1!

in the picture for #3 which one is the guy?

I wouldn’t want a boyfriend to tell me what to wear :-/

@written_conversations@xanga - what if he picked out something really hideous and thought that you’d like it?! just seems a bit awkward =P
rose / 791 posts
@Sweet_And_Sour_Quotes@xanga - hahaha, exactly. I’d rather take him out with me and ask his opinion! Most men shouldn’t be trusted when it comes to picking appropriate outfits :p
guest
These are all cute except the first one. Its good in theory, and though I trust my boyfriend’s judgement, I don’t know if I would agree with any clothing he picked out for me. And I have a weird body so sizes aren’t anything to go by for me, everything has to be tried on in multiple sizes.
orchid / 222 posts
1 and 4 are just weird. I mean, I don’t expect a guy to know what would actually fit me or not, and TAMPONS? Seriously? There’s no way I want my boyfriend to be like “I bought you something to plug the leak and here’s some chocolate to shut you up!” I don’t even like chocolate that much. And look at how sad that poor kid is that he’s in the tampon aisle. I don’t expect a guy to know my clothing size and I REALLY don’t expect him to know my tampon size. Gross.

@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - My ex complained about this when we had just started dating and I said if he could stick his stuff in it, he surely could buy me some tampons to stick up there as well.
He did for four years when needed!

@Grtt@xanga - My boyfriend has nice handwriting. Not every guy sucks at penmanship.
rose / 786 posts
@MadMarch@xanga - It’s the thought that counts. I’m assuming the “time of the month” one is for if the girl asks her guy to go get the stuff. My boyfriend bought me some chocolate the last time I was on my period and I thought the act was very sweet.
And I think number one is sweet. There are ways to get around the whole actually knowing what size your girlfriend is. Assuming you live together he can just go through your clothes and find out what size you are, or he can ask someone who would know.

@xhalesx@revelife - I’m a guy and have nice handwriting, but it isn’t …girly. I write like a typewriter, basically.

I totally sent this to my boyfriend. Mostly because I really, REALLY love #1. He responded with “I’ve already done 2, 4 and 5. I’m awesome!” -_______-

@JShadey01@xanga - If she just goes for looks, you don’t want her anyway. Find someone who isn’t shallow.

@Grtt@xanga - Yea. That sounds like my boyfriend’s. Haha

Heh, my bf buys me tampons all the time XD But we’ve been together for a while, he also buys me a package of oreos and a couple of tacos during my time of the month (I only get my period once or twice a year off of birth control, PCOS) -.- So it’s a nice surprise <3

My S.O has done every single one of these for me.. and then some. He is pretty amazing.. despite ALL his major faults..
8 years together, currently “separated” and trying to work it out.. hm.

@xhalesx@revelife - If it’s the thought that counts, then my thoughts are that a guy knowing when I’m on my period is just awkward. (I’m not sexually active, obviously.) And I don’t “yell and cry for no reason” either, as the article suggests. My period is my business. A guy doesn’t need to be worrying about it. As for the outfit, it’s a real crapshoot and depends on the guy’s sense of style. I can’t wear anything from Forever 21 (or any realy “trendy” place) because I’m too tall/my legs are too long. Unless he’s buying a shirt his choice will probably show too much cleavage and be way too short. If he likes the stripper look though, then great! xD

It would be pretty awesome if my boyfriend had any interest in my clothes. But I can’t even get him to go shopping with me. I always end up leaving pretty quickly because he follows right behind me. I can hardly turn around without always bumping into him. This, in turn, makes me feel rushed, and then I am unable to decide. So I just don’t take him anymore. I could never see him going out on his own to buy me an outfit.
@lenybobsyouruncle@xanga - I was wondering that, too! And why can’t the chick have a couple of guy friends there too? Shit, I wouldn’t make my boyfriend suffer through a night out being the only guy around. Or maybe I’m just one of those weird girls who has both male and female friends that she would invite to dinner.
@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - Agree completely. My boyfriend never gets mad when I tend to complain about my horrible cramps from hell. I spent all of last night curled in a ball on our bed and occasionally moaning about my combo of a heating pad and ibuprofen’s lack of effectiveness and all he did was come over and give me lots of hugs whenever I said it hurt really bad. That being said, I try not to complain about it, and I always have tampons around (really… they’re in all my bags, in my car, at my boyfriend’s place) so I haven’t had to ask him to buy me any yet. I bet he would, though he’d definitely use self-checkout.

I love numbers 2 and 5. Take charge once in a while and do things I enjoy once in a while. If I go to all of your sporting events all year long, you can sit through one play for me.
I wouldn’t really want a guy to buy an outfit for me (what if he buys the wrong size or something?), and I don’t really know how I’d feel if a guy bought me tampons… I mean, ice cream would be better hahaha. As for spending time with my friends, I’m still in college, so that tends to happen on it’s own without him having to plan it out specifically.
But yeah, honestly, any gesture that shows that he’s thinking about me is really appreciated.
Even when my bf just texts to ask how a test went or something, I think it’s sweet.

I don’t even have a bf to complain about -_-

@JShadey01@xanga - Make lots of money.

… I would never want my boyfriend to surprise me with tampons. How awkward.
And I like the first one (: While I think it could go the way where I’d think, “Who’s he to tell me what to wear?” But not with my current boyfriend. He has better style than I do and knows I can’t afford to really buy myself many pretty clothes (:
How about making food?
guest
Awwwwwwwwwwwww.
guest
HAHAHAH. My boyfriend does everything except the dinner with girls and clothing thing.
guest
I think the best thing a guy can ever do is leave little sticky notes lying around where he thinks you’ll see them.
guest
You might as well just ask for a unicorn that poops rainbows.
guest
what a sweet treat if your bf showed up wearing a nice outfit just so he can look nice for you \^_^/.
guest
@puiyenchui@xanga - agreed!
