Only $79 for a regular Kindle? Daaamn, you guys should get one. Even if you’re one of those “noooo, I love paper!” types, trust me: I was one too (I was a librarian, for pete’s sake) and I fully converted to Kindle worship right after I got one.
Will you get a new Kindle? Do you already have one?

They make an e-ink touch screen now? Well damn, I was feeling all hoity-toity lookie what my Nook can do!! … Might as well go burn it now.

I just got a Kindle for my birthday, and honestly, I love that it’s not touchscreen. And really, how much are you going to be using that touchscreen? Most of the time you’re using it, you’re going to be reading it. Not having a touchscreen doesn’t detract from the experience in the least.

You know what would be sweet… if libraries had e-books for everything that you could rent on a kindle… that will be the day I get a kindle.

Wow, only $80 for a simple Kindle? I don’t have one now, but my husband loves his. Saves us a lot of money to read books on the Kindle since he loves to read. (Not to mention all the space needed to house his books.) He only uses it to read novels so I don’t think he will upgrade any time soon. I don’t read enough to justify the cost previously, but maybe at this lower price, I can. I wonder how long the battery lasts on the new color Kindle models.

@Ashley Nicole Anders@facebook - I believe Amazon offers a protection plan–the husband actually accidentally stepped on his Kindle. They replaced it for free, but this was over a year ago so maybe the plans have changed, or not offered on the new products. I am thankful for the Kindle because he’s not quick to part with his books and reads so many of them I wouldn’t know where to store all those damn books! But, I do agree, some technology items have gone too far, such as the 3D TVs. I can’t even go to a 3D movie without getting a horrible headache. Blu-Ray is also a bit overrated in my opinion, I cannot tell the difference between the Blu-Ray/Hi Def movies and regular DVDs except the price, but that might because our TV is already 6 years old…

@annamariuhh@xanga - On the kindle and the nook you can borrow books from the library for free! Depends on your public library on how much they have available.
Dear Amazon…Nook has had this technology for a lot longer. =) Besides I would rather support technology that also supports brick and mortar stores so everyone can still read how they like. =)

@annamariuhh@xanga - they do! I can check out e-books for my Kindle or iPad at the NYPL. It RULES. You just search for a book and you can be reading it seconds later for free!

my boyfriend has a kindle and I think he prefers if it wasn’t touch screen. It works perfectly fine. I don’t see the need for all these advances for the new kindle.

I’m perfectly happy with my old Kindle
I also have Kindle on my touch-screen phone, so I don’t need an update.

I’ll stick to my paper books, thank you very much. The Kindle could be given to me for free and I still wouldn’t use it.
@Ashley Nicole Anders@facebook - I agree. Some of the technology today is silly.

I have the Kindle 3 and I love it, still wont trade it in yet for the newer models. I wanna wait and see how good they actually are, plus my kindle is not even a year old…lol

@Jessica - if they have a certain book, would there be a set number of ‘copies’? Also do you have to ‘return’ it?

i’m definitely a “noooo, I love paper!” type. i’m still resisting, lol.

i would be more into the kindle if i knew i could get books for really cheap on there. often you can find used books really really cheap. the same reason i don’t buy things from itunes store, i don’t have the money to fund those sort of libraries.

I want the 3G one now! I liked how they had the page turning buttons on the side though.

Ugh Kindle and any kind of eReader. Thanks to those, the only book stores within a 45 minute driving distance went out of business. I like to own books the way I like to own CD’s. Little eBooks and mp3 files just don’t compare.

i’d pay $100 for a touch screen kindle…might have to look into it…

I love my Kindle and wouldn’t trade it for anything but I’m really liking what I’m seeing on this page
