So I found the best dress ever, and let me tell you why.

Living in San Francisco means needing to implement fall clothing techniques all year round. Being a temperate, coastal city means that weather varies more in one day, or neighborhood to neighborhood, than it does month to month. It’s rarely freezing cold or dripping hot. I’d describe about 350 days out of the year as “sweater weather”- sometimes varying to “heavy sweater weather” and occasionally “heavy sweater and hat weather.” You get the picture.

So sometimes it’s hard to appreciate the changing fashion seasons that the rest of the country gets to enjoy…which is why I have been loving this simple dress that I found this fall at Forever 21. It was about $16, and just lends itself to so many variations:

Light and summery- paired with my beat-up brown Toms and a headband from H&M.

Comfy for work or school with a long gray/brown sweater from Aerie, brown tights and wedge Mary-Janes from target.

For chillier days, with a faux leather Jacket from H&M, leggings and boots from Target (have you picked up on where I tend to shop?)

And again- with a gray cardigan and oxford heels from a thrift store, black tights and a Ruehl beanie (my old roomie worked at Ruehl. RIP failed A&F brand, you were too expensive for me anyway).

Basically I loved it so much I went back and bought it in brown!

What do you think of these autumn looks? What are your staple pieces this fall?
