“I spent the ’90s trying to hide out.I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic…It became very clear to me that I was so intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think my marriage [to Aniston] had something to do with it: trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”
– Moneyball star Brad Pitt to Parade magazine on the truth behind his marriage to Jennifer Aniston, which ended in 2005. Pitt later backtracked on his comments, claiming, “It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly…The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself — and that, I am responsible for.” [NY Post]

Extremely misleading title. He in no way called the marriage pathetic; he merely stated that he FELT pathetic within the marriage and the overall situation. How in hell does that make him a douche?

he’s not saying the marriage was pathetic. he’s describing himself and his own actions as pathetic. he may be a douche for not just leaving Jen when he should’ve, instead stringing her along & making her think everything was fine…but he’s not a douche for the reasons implied here. yeeeeah, not cool, lovelyish.

i know. honesty is a terrible, hurtful thing.

Well that was a really misleading title. And calling the marriage pathetic or his own action, he is allowed to feel that way. It was their marriage. None of us technically KNOW these people or what happened between them and it’s insane to believe anything otherwise.

Because honesty and feeling down about yourself is such a douche-y thing. No one will ever know the whole story so why are we calling people names over something we’ll ever know?

I’m not one to believe that we can make character assumptions about actors. They play pretend for a living. He entertains me; the rest, I don’t really care about.

Agreed on the misleading title. This isn’t him being a giant douche, it’s him explaining his reasons for why the marriage crumbled. Nothing wrong with honesty.

truth hurts.
important thing is they are both happy even though it means its with different people.

i guess what he’s trying to say was his marriage with jennifer wasn’t what everybody thought it was. he made the marriage dull. i think it’s a little too late to be admitting this though. i wish he would of admitted it after he started dating angelina jolie.

Misleading title, much? He doesn’t sound like a douche at all, he’s just being honest. I doubt he’s any more douche-y than the rest of us.

I guess I’m the only one who thought his comment was inappropriate.

Im so tired of all of the crap people are posting about brad pitt. He did not once call his marriage pathetic. He said he felt pathetic and he thinks that it may have had something to do with the fact that his marriage was all about pretending that it was something it wasnt. how the heck does that make him a douche? oh right, it doesnt.

I’m still a big fan of Brad and Jen.. but with so many things that has happened, I highly doubt they’ll ever be together anymore. :/

Big BIG difference between being a douche and being honest. I’d be smoking joints all day everyday if I had to be married to that woman

I felt bad for Jenn when this first came out because the media always vilifies her.

@Xx_SCRiBBLY@xanga - No, I think it’s inappropriate too. People can say it’s the truth all they want, and you know what maybe it is but you can’t cover up what he really meant even if he did try to fix his statement.

who do ppl like brad pitt so much? is his ‘hotness’ (debateable) gives him the right over other men to cheat on his then wife? y are ppl not upset, when tiger wood cheated, everyone was upset. is it because wood cheated with girls that are not has hot as angelina? i dislike bradpitt.

what a stupid title…why is this on top blogs?

What a surprise, another Lovelyish post with a horribly misleading title. Do you even read your posts before you put them up?

@etjenesaispas@xanga - haha, me too! good choice, brad, in leaving. no matter how you did it.

I see what he is saying… being in a bad or failing relationship makes life very dull and makes one feel pathetic. He’s not blaming Aniston, though he could have worded it better.

@dead_poetic009xx@xanga - You’re the only person here who said what I thought.
