VH1 has announced their 2011 Song of the Summer and after another great summer full of amazing songs, they have chosen the popular party anthem “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” by Katy Perry as the winner.
The people at VH1 originally thought that talented songstress Adele would take the crown with her hit “Rolling in the Deep,” but after Katy Perry’s ode to forgotten Friday nights was released, it soon dominated VH1′s Top 20 Countdown.
Other summer hits that made the 20 song list included “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO, “I Wanna Go” by Britney Spears, and “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People.
You can watch Katy’s acceptance speech and see which other awesome summer songs made VH1′s list here.

Which songs did you love this summer, Lovelies?

Uh… I listened to Queen all summer.

I’m so tired of all Katy Perry’s same unoriginal brainlessly-criticized shits playing over the radio hit after hit.

@Ashley Nicole Anders@facebook - Totally agree. I can’t listen to the radio anymore. The three popular stations all play the same music. There will be times where the same song will be playing on every station. And they overplay them to death. Luckily my car stereo can connect to my iPod.

i loved Wiz Khalifa, he’s totally not my usual style but i found his music good for relaxing too when i was in america on holiday

I listened to Dance Gavin Dance. Forget Perry.

I’m not a raging drunk sex animal so I don’t really like that song nor do I relate to it, but it’s catchy. I think Britney’s is better. I bump DAT in the car.

I thought music sucked in the late 90s, I had no idea it would get so much worse. Foster the People, ftw.

The lyrics to this song are so sexualized that I feel gross listening to this song

Eh…the song was only somewhat enjoyable after watching the twisted-version-of-the-hangover music video. And even then, the repetitive yelling “T.G.I.F” made me have diarrhea. Everywhere.

Yeah she’s pretty much promoting being a whore in that song, and a majority of her fan base are young girls. Awesome.

Ew. I only liked Katy Perry when her very first single was out. (I Kissed a Girl) And only for a few weeks while it was getting way overplayed. And she’s only come out with thoughtless songs since then. And I’ll say the same thing about a lot of “artists.” (I’m sure that people can probably say the same thing about my taste in music.)
There’s a lot of songs/”artists” that get overplayed and makes me not enjoy the radio at all. It’s like all of the stations play the same Top 40 (in almost any and every genre), most popular artists or songs over and over again.
Since I’ve gotten an iPod, I’ve had almost no use for a radio in the car.

I HATE this fucking song. It’s always on the God damn radio. PLAY SOMETHING ELSE, JESUS CHRIST!

@WhenHateIsTheOnlyOption@xanga - I agree, music in the late 90′s was when it got bad :s

It’s fun and catchy but Adele should have won it! She has actual talent
