The people at Fox Sports thought it would be a great idea to send comedian Bob Oschack to interview students from the University of Southern California to give Colorado and Utah, the two newest members to join the Pac-10 (now Pac-12), a “good old All-American welcome.” Seems like a typical sports segment, until you realize that all of the students interviewed are Asian, have foreign accents, and know nothing about football.
Fox Sports tried to bring in a few laughs, but some felt differently about it, calling Oschack “a flagrant racial caricature.” The following day, Fox Sports issued an apology to the entire USC community.
So Lovelies, what are your thoughts about this? Is it funny to single out a race of students this way?

I’m tired of people making Asians seem like such a joke, it’s really fucking annoying.

Wtf??? Tasteless and lame. That’s what Fox is all about.
guest
This was stupid and far from being funny.
guest
Aw, they’re all so cute. But this is really lame, and upsetting that anyone would find this funny.
guest
@ask_ashleyyy@xanga - I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that looked wrong…

It’s Pac-12.
Pac = abbreviation for Pacific

@FallenReign@xanga - Google is a wonderful tool lol

I couldn’t watch the whole video because I just couldn’t see my own race being humiliated on TV. :/
If FOX didn’t do this intentionally, they could have cut out the scenes where students didn’t know anything about football and use the ones where students did know (if they had any scenes, like I said, I couldn’t watch the whole thing.)

Classy.

Though this is funny, it is NOT appropriate as a “news segment,” or to be shown by any serious news show. This is disgusting.
guest
I didn’t think it was very tasteful, but I’m not going to lie, I did laugh at first. Then I realized that every student was Asian. It would’ve been funny if it was a bunch of people from different races that knew nothing about football.
guest
Knowing a thing or two about football doesn’t take half a brain. Its kind of like being pretty.
yay america.
guest
Wow. Thats bad.
guest
Seriously? common sense news people– that is not how you make a news segment.
Like someone else commented: if they included a whole bunch of people that were clueless and not just Asians, then it would have been funny.
guest
wow. who gives a shit about football when youre getting your double major and ruling the world. hah
guest
Well….it wasn’t funny but not because it would be considered offensive.
guest
I can’t believe they aired that. No class.
guest
fuck all racists
guest
Idiots…
guest
Awww I feel so bad for those guys. They look really nice and they were practically humiliated. But yeah what @x_UNF0RGiVEN@xanga said….they’ve got plenty going on for them!

When was Fox not biased?
And yes I think it’s horrible when a major “news” station exploits ANYONE for their own benefit.
guest
but since it is at USC where you will mostly find Asian students…
guest
…… this is terrible.

I hate Fox. Way before this tasteless segment. They are known for their biased news, catering to the “All American” conservative people who are scared of changing the United States into a more equal-opportunity land. If you’ve read the Rolling Stone article, all of Fox News is based on one man’s opinion and racist (or should I say paranoid) point of view (past and current).

I am urging you, all of you, to turn away from Fox News for your news source. Anything is better than biased news. Others that I recommend to stay away from is Huffington Post, Washington Post, Wallstreet Journal, and WorldNetDaily.com. Pure crap. If I have just eliminated all the sources in which you get your news, please try out these:
Mother Jones
Google News
Reddit
Pharyngula Science Blog – although it may be a blog, he links you to all the news article he’s writing about, and you can read it for yourself and make up your own mind.

lmao that’s great

Do you know anything about proper ping pong matches, Taekkyeon, Ssirum or Hanetsuki? Didn’t think so. This might be mind boggling to you, but..the whole world doesn’t revolve themselves around America… and just so you know, some people are born with nature beauty, therefore they don’t need to learn on how to be pretty like you might have. @missmerlot@xanga -

Boo…

It kinda made me cringe because I felt bad for all of them. They all seemed really nice, didn’t seem to realize it was a big joke. Bleh.

Even if you ignore the “racism” that everyone else is saying…it really isn’t funny. With the racism included…it really isn’t funny. In general: I’m missing the humor.
guest
Oh gee…
guest
laugh it off people. just wait till you’re featured on fox and school the fuck out of each and every one of these imbeciles.
guest
Wow pretty low….
guest
This was probably the lamest sports segment I’ve ever seen… It wasn’t funny or anything.
guest
@buddy71@xanga - You could almost say the same for UW. We’re pretty heavy on the Asian population here as well. As for Colorado and Utah joining… Ahahahah!! They’re going to get their asses kicked by USC. USC brings that shit home all day long. If not them, the Ducks will pound their shitter in.
The fact that they are trying to make fun of USC and the Asian population makes me change the channel to sportcenter or something else equally non relevant to local sports.
guest
This and Jay Leno’s jaywalking segments. It’s good TV… NOT!!!
guest
This wasn’t very funny, but I can see where he’s coming from. Think about it, guys. If he had interviewed Asian students who spoke fluent/unaccented English/not foreign students (which I imagine is over ~90% of the Asian USC community), they would realize that this is FOX and probably out-wit the guy in every aspect of life. And FOX wouldn’t want that.
The foreign students probably could’ve done the same thing in their native languages too. Not to mention they’re probably a million times smarter than Oschack seeing as they’re studying at a top university in a language that was not their first.
guest
I don’t understand the point he was trying to make by interviewing foreign people on American football…
guest
Nice…I think you took that the wrong way completely. And no I have no idea about any of those things. Including being pretty. I was trying to say that if they wanted to have an interest in football that they could, it isn’t rocket science. They just have other things to be doing. And that isn’t a bad thing.

@thisisamelia@xanga - I don’t either. Nor did I find it funny.

lol i thought it was funny…but then again i’m asian haha
