“Calvin and Hobbes” was the best comic strip of the 90s, right? In between working a full-time job and taking care of his children, stay-at-home dad Aaron Nason created this gorgeous homage to Bill Watterson’s beloved characters. While Watterson famously refused to merchandise his work, I’m sure that even he would appreciate the care that went into Nason’s artistry. These shoes are available on Nason’s Etsy page for just $40.
Are you a “Calvin and Hobbes” fan? Do you like these shoes? [The Gloss]

I would buy them and never wear them because they are too awesome.

I love Calvin and Hobbes, but I’d be too afraid of messing them up by wearing them anywhere.

These are amazing shoes. I’d wear them everywhere… and fuck Watterson’s opinion on merchandising. He turned into such a sour misanthrope during the last years of the strip and it was almost a relief that he quit when he did. The Onion had Watterson pegged exactly right. http://www.theonion.com/articles/bill-watterson-writes-illustrates-shreds-new-calvi,21240/
Still, “Calvin and Hobbes” is a beatiful and very influential comic strip that a lot of other (lesser) cartoonists are still aping today. I adored that strip as a child and I still have very fond associations with it today. Yes, I would wear the shoes everywhere. With a “Tintin” T-shirt to top it off

Since Watterson doesn’t want merchandise with Calvin & Hobbes all over it, I think it’s pretty disrespectful to wear these shoes. Let the strip exist in strip form, like was intended, not turned into a fashion statement or whatnot.
